Are you getting any white smoke? Are you losing coolant? When you checked your oil, was it higher on the dipstick than it normally is like it has more liquid in the pan?
Do a compression or leak down test and post the numbers up for us to look at.

As for guns, my specialty is shotguns. I haven't got to practice with my pistols yet. I just recently aquired some .380 ammo so that I can go do some target practice. I used to bird hunt all the time so I won't need it with the twelve gauge.

Are you running lean in the higher rpms?
If you know it's not because you're running out of fuel, try gapping your plugs to .026 and see how your car likes that. I actually run mine at .020 but I'm run 22psi. Good luck.
