Oil pumps, not so much. Rod knock, due to lack of maintenance. Head gasket is Toyota's fault, and is easily corrected by taking the proper steps. 1JZ's have their own problems. But, if you have plenty of them, quit throwing sticks at them and put one in the supra... Check out the 1JZ...

It's better to take it out, then you can have it on a stand, which I prefer. You can leave it in the truck, though. You can even leave the crank in the engine. With the engine running, speed it up to where it knocks. Then, pull a spark plug wire or injector clip one at a time, listening for...

The most cost efficient way would be to pull the engine, drop the pan. Unbolt the rods and mains and inspect for damage. If there is no damage to any of the rotating components, buy new bearings and install, using assembly lube.

A good AWIC setup will provide you with more than adequate cooling. Read: Good setup. Syclone/Typhoon's had AWIC's and people upgrade all the time. Maybe go hang out on their forums and read up about what to do/what not to do.

Don't be so cheap. You can run an upgraded CT26 on a stock IC. Save up for a while and buy a Spearco. Any other IC and you're going to have to make a custom IC pipe that runs from the driver's side to the passenger's side, which is much more pipe to fill up + the larger IC = a lot of lag

On the topic of the IC and piping, I, personally would buy some real silicone couplers from HighTempSilicone. I'm sure the ones they give you will hold, but for how long? I vote that the IC is good, and plenty worthit. Just be sure to post installation pics and your opinion of how it is...
