Since you're looking for modest power goals, you *should* be fine. For how long, though... it's questionable.
I'd replace those headbolts with ARP's. Remove one, and replace with an ARP, one by one.
Sooner or later you will be needing a MHG.

I was going to put the solid on the exhaust side, and the 2jz on the intake side.
Maybe put an engine damper across to a strut tower.

The "adjustment screw" in the middle of mine had stripped and was always just floating around under the little army helmet there...

Not too hard. all you need is some flare wrenches, a 10mm socket, and 4 jackstands.
The ones going across to the ABS actuator will be a pain with the engine in the car, but otherwise, not that bad.
