jake, you're entirely right, and that is why i always blame them for blowing. The walls are waaay too thin to begin with and sadly nothing we can do about it :nono:
my moms 2000 sienna (they were identical from 1999-2003 iirc) horns are plenty loud and they will fit like mentioned earlier, so you can use that as an option.
wasn't the cometic the one with the rivet you had to remove while the HKS you didn't? I remember some people not doing this and it led to a leaky HG...
The HKS filters were actually updated so they aren't that bad... But that still didn't stop me from buying an APEX'I after i bought an HKS. Plus i needed a bit more clearance up in the front.
thats another good idea, check the insides of the fuel filter and get someone to analyze it. it should give you a good idea of whats goin on in there. And if you can get a sample of the fuel currently in tank and send it out to get analyzed.
you could always do like i do and assume 90 percent of the rust is not visible. so cut the filler. If it's fine then weld it back together!
Make sure you dont weld with some fuel residue left over tho...
