Not sure what you mean by "bad first gear".. should I scold it? :biglaugh:
If I hold the shifter up (push against it in first) the gear does work and I can use it, however.. it is preceded by a audible "clunk" as it engages and if I let go, it will pop out of gear. Not sure, but I am thinking...
How does a person "bend" the first fork.. lol. Speed shifting into first?? : )
I will have to drop the tranny to look I guess. No other real option, so I am going to pick up a 3rd tranny and just swap them, then look at the tranny and have a spare. Doesnt everyone?
This one is kind of odd and I am wondering if anyone has heard of it or had it happen. My 90 MKIII wont go into first gear unless I push the shifter very firmly towards the top of first. If I let up just a little bit it will grind and pop it into neutral. There is an audible "clunk" right as it...
Well.. you will find Supra gods in these forums and asking will be your best first path. I have found out tons just from reading. I am not a mechanical god, nor am I good at body work, but I have rebuilt engines and transmissions as well as maintaining cars by myself. If I knew half of what I...
I had this exact problem, and the hose running to the turbo was the culprit. It was actually crystallizing and I went and bought the replacement. On the way home from buying the replacement, it burst. Lost all my coolant by the time I pulled over. I could shred this hose with my fingers after...
I am curious..
A. is there an aftermarket place that sells these specifically for the Supra (the single shaft)
B. is there any caveats to having one constructed? (weight and balance really shouldnt factor in as long as the length and strength are sufficient is my guess)
C. Why is it...
hmm.. that rust stuff work? I was thinking about pulling everything that I can (reasonably and cleaning/coating with something once I get the panel fixed to prevent rust in the future. That stuff looks pretty good.
Guessing its 100 bucks a gallon? lol
Mine doesnt see winter. I wont do that to it... lol. (plus those tires would suck on snow!) I do have brand new winter tires on the sawblades.. hmm.. maybe I should sell those.. as I will never use them...
Just curious.. what are you going to do about the inner wheel well? Thats the one that...
Well.. for one... you dont need a spoiler. The stock one does help a little, but is more cosmetic than anything. Because you are not throwing money all over... keep in mind.. less is more. A stock Supra is far more enjoyable than a modified one if you have to worry about the pennies. Once you...
hmmm... maybe I will go with the upgraded cat then... just in case. I'm pretty sure its not a requirement here, but if I am driving through other areas it may be (I want to do some state runs eventually with it, maybe finally get to a Supra meet in vegas if they still run! :D)
yeah, thats a bit more severe than mine. the only 2 spots I have rust are a dollar size rust spot on the fender (hoping to replace the full fender if it exists somewhere) and the rear quarter panel wheelwell... but those pics kinda show the rot I have. Sad thing is, I wont know the FULL extent...
actually.. I have found a couple, but they are complete cars here. And I was surprised to find 2 in the junkyards so far. going to check out one's panels right now.. everything else is pretty well gone on it... apparently they sell off fast.. lol.
Other than that.. all my assumptions are correct? All I have to do is decide correct?
(I feel stupid asking a silly question like that, but no matter how many threads I read.. I always assume I have it wrong in my head)
You love your wheels, so therefore, you care about your Supra's appearance. Definitely get rid of the door then.
As for the repair.. I dont do body work.. lol. (I know my limitations)
hmmm.. as always, a lot to think about. I think I talked to BIC earlier this year, but couldnt free up the funds. I have 3 weeks to decide... so.. the more info the better.
I just got a master mechanic agreed to help me in exchange for some work.. woot! (he's GM.. but he has the tools!)...
