Odd thing.. I just replaced my gas tank and I believe it came out of a 87. Did the seals, added a MKIV Denso fuel pump.. cleaned it all up and pressure tested it. Can finally hold a full tank of fuel.. lol
QUESTION is.. the gasket at the top of the fuel tube (plastic piece with a rubber seal...
Im stripping out the engine bay when the engine bay is out and cleaning it. Its not my main Supra, but it was such a bargain, I can afford to be a bit lavish with it.
450.00 for the car with no rust bubbles on the quarters (although.. it does have some rust that needs to be addressed that cant...
Got the engine about 1/2 way out of the car, took the rad off.. and slapped a wrench on the crank (can reach it fine now.. lol).
It turns.. rofl. This is a 87 MKIII with a 7MGE that was "supposed" to be seized. It sounds like the valve fell into the cylinder and is stopping the piston from...
lol, never be afraid of asking a stupid question.. just dont ask question stupidly.. :)
The first thing I did after reading these forums was upgraded my rad from this
to this
Never regretted it either. I also switched to Toyota Red coolant because the 7M waterpump is supposedly a bit...
I have noticed the heat and wondered about it because the 3000 tube is so close to the turbo. I have also read about wrapping the exhaust manifold and was considering doing heat control when I upgrade my engine. (will still be 7M)
I just wasn't really concerned with the stock CT26 heat because I...
You dont actually need a blanket on a stock CT26 do you? (just asking because I thought it wasn't necessary, the heat issue isn't large enough to worry about on a stock 7MGTE)
(sorry if its a stupid question.. I like learning more about my baby)
reading the final solution reminded me of the last engine rebuild I did where I put the thrust bearings in backwards and it took me a while to figure out why I destroyed the crank.. lol. Simple things that trip you up are the worst. Its why i love these forums. Brainstorming and good folk.
Test for BHG - 1 technique
I think NAPA may have the kit that allows you to draw air out of the rad and run it through a chemical they have and check the color to see if you have any exhaust gases entering your coolant. I dont see any mention of your hose conditions. Mine did what you described...
wondering in regards to the inside metal (under the carpet...) I only saw one spot that had rust from some odd spot (looks like moisture coming in from the louvre behind the passenger side window...I replaced the louvres though with brand new OEM versions), should a person sand the interior...
does that mean I should swap the one from the 7MGE that I have in the Supra onto the 7MGE from the Cressida? (with the different oil pans, probably a given)
I just bought a 7MGE that was in a Cressida, swapped into a celica and pulled from that. I will be compression/leak down testing it next weekend, but want to see if I am covering all the bases here.
I plan to:
Replace the Oil pan (and gasket) with one off of my 87 Supra 7MGE (the Cressida...
That's what I noticed with the Megan's on my 87.. they were extremely stiff. Great for if I wanted to "drift" around corners, but not too comfy for a long haul. Megans seem to be excellent quality, but I think with Eibach or Tein, they aren't quite as firm (but I dont know that from experience)...
thanks so far! : )
I was thinking coilovers are my best bet. In regards to the alignment, thats the main reason I made this post. I want to replace all the suspension needed to correct the "lowering" effect on the overall handling. Therefore, I was wondering if I need to buy control arms, sway...
Hey Jill, wonder if you have any photos of your car. Mine is the same color as yours and I just ordered a bodykit with a similar bumper to what you have.
What suspension are you running?
Yes, usual upgrades and thinking that I only want to drop about 1.5" (will know exactly after the body kit is installed). Because I am not totally slamming the car I was wondering if coil-overs were still the way to go or if its recommended to just go with an altered spring setup. (again.. money...
