Thats a wind tunnel area too.. so if driving through mist/water.. the foam would absorb it. In my head.. the soak/dry factor would take foam tape and disintegrate it in short order. I like the idea of clear plastic on both sides.. so it is tape hitting tape. The fiberglass is pretty light.. so...
I just noticed this... "doublesided"?? Why would I want glue on both sides?
Also, I am looking for the best solution. $$ doesn't factor into it really simply because no fix is going to cost nearly as much as the paint. So far, a "touchpad" using tape seems the way to go.
I think I would put...
Lol, you may want to out if sheer frustration if you start noticing rust around your windshield...
I was just looking at my truck front bumper and it's built similar.
Just a note, I was reading your first post... The hatch seal isn't the place where I notice water coming in from. It's the...
http://www.lamin-x.com/Default.asp <--- that is a lot like the 3M isn't it? Sounds like a good idea really.. wouldn't need a large strip.. just enough to keep the tail from contacting the paint surface.. and the only time it would really be visible is when the hatch is open (which is rare)
I just had my Shine Auto Whaletail fitted on my car (getting very close to paint time) and am wondering what the people who already have one on their car have done to prevent the edges of the whale tale from rubbing off the paint on the upper quarter where it sits and is unattached.
I didn't...
My only thought is "crumple zone" and the effect of a rear impact from below or above instead of straight on (higher or lower car).
A ton of thought has gone into the regular bumper for how it reacts when hit. From what I see with yours, it will hold the bumper well, and probably stand up well...
Yes, kinda. Its going to have a bit more black in it and a heavy metal flake with a red flip. I was thinking of a blue flip, but when I saw the red.. it sold me. It is a Toyota color (I dont have the code with me right now) as well, although I would say a couple shades darker than the original...
I got into a little bit of a problem with my work computer (died). Just reviving all my client files and getting everything back up (server-wise) so been a little preoccupied. Status right now is that the bodyman is taking his time (I told him to because now I wont have the cash until Sept. 7th...
Damn, randy's car is sold? Locally?
Cherry wide body up for sale, anyone else unloading??lol
My car will be roadworthy right when all the Canucks sell theirs...
Randy still making exhausts?
I would also advise starting a build thread with photos ( not in this area) so we can follow along and throw in comments when you get stuck. I'm doing likewise, and have started the map for my upgrade path. (not done posting updates yet)
lol, its not the $$.. its the results. Could have been done smarter.. but I have had 3-4 years to learn.. :)
In the end.. the car is worth it for me. And... It's actually more like 19000 at this point...
Continuing on...
The Nightmare
In 2009, I was noticing that my brake lights had moisture in them. Now.. I was researching turbos, exhausts.. etc.. you know.. the fun stuff... and so this was a surprise to me.
So.. I looked. Well.. there starts the journey. My brake light seals are dry rotted...
