only thing i did to remove mine was unbolt it and pull it up from the top
i dont have a fan shroud either but i dont think it will get in your way

my stock guage always read 40psi cold idle and 20 hot idle
hooked up my electric autometer
now its 40 cold idle and 4-5ish hot idle
2,500 hot its 25psi and goes up from there 10psi every 1,000rpms
im also running 10w40 castrol gtx (cause 160xxx miles on original motor)with almost 3,000...
to me putting an apapter plate in a area that is already a b*tch to get to wouldnt be worth the hassle

best way to find out if its a wire problem is to do a resistance check on your wires from afm plug to ecu plug
gets a multimeter thats has a ohms selection
i prefer the type with a audible beep so that way i know when there is resistance
next find and print out a ecu pinout for your year...
with engine off check that the throttle body butterfly is completely closed
if that is fine i would suspect you ISCV is bad
have a friend start the engine
tap on ISCV with a wrench or something but nothing like a hammer lol
dont need to tap hard just lightly

there is 2 ways you can do this
the fittings supplied with your autometer gauge is a NPT THREAD
where as the stock supra oil pressure sending unit threads are BSPT
if you want to run you stock oil pressure gauge then you will need a T fitting
