also, if it whines, it's probably on its way out, and could mean that it's cavitating over 2,000rpm making no assist power.

Sounds to me like it's a boost leak. I've held off chiming in here, but it seems like it runs like a car with a bad or unplugged AFM.

Now that looks functional! I'd be compelled to get an extra fresh air duct into the radiator from above the intercooler, and perhaps create a duct from the bumper to the intercooler as well, but that looks great!
