What kind of mods has everybody used due to the lack of useable cup holders in the mkiii?

i forgot to take a pic of the apexi before it got dark out but you can still see it above the switch board where there should be a head unit (it was a long ride back from SC without it)

just bought this car last night and its WAY over-built for me, i have no idea what is goin on under the hood and it is running pretty rough, it also has an "APEXI" monitoring device inside. please if you can give me any insight into what i have, and how to use it (or what its worth) i would be...
