They don't mind you doing that stuff on base? Are you in the dorms or in housing? I can understand in the housing parking lot. I have done all mine in housing parking underneath the parking overhang.

Read this, Driftmotion fixes them. I would have them do it instead of "trying" to fix it yourself. I'm not doubting your ability. But, I would have it done right. Isn't expensive at all either.
