Random/Intermittent Misfire and Code 52 (knock sensors are rewired)

Well, as in most cases, it's always something simple. Turns out the miss was due to a loose injector connector. Unfortunately, it's now breaking up at/past 3500 RPM. No codes present. I went ahead and performed the igniter ground mod, but that didn't have any effect on the breaking up. Excellent...

Random/Intermittent Misfire and Code 52 (knock sensors are rewired)

Correct. It's a constant misss, consistent throughout the RPM range. No breakup up top anymore, just the constant miss. I still want to try that igniter ground mod and see what happens, but it seems as if it's time to start isolating cylinders to identify whether or not the miss is local.

Random/Intermittent Misfire and Code 52 (knock sensors are rewired)

No, not yet. I need to search for a thread on how to do it and will get back to working on the car this afternoon.

Random/Intermittent Misfire and Code 52 (knock sensors are rewired)

If I might defend myself for a moment, though unnecessary as it may be, his information was certainly not ignored. My replies were in order of what I had already checked, and on to what I still had left to check. I just wanted to be as clear and concise about everything I've done while...

Random/Intermittent Misfire and Code 52 (knock sensors are rewired)

Ah thanks for the tip, not sure why I mistook T1 and E1 for setting fuel pressure. I knew 43 was higher than stock, but thought I'd bump it up a bit for the 550cc injectors. I'll set it to factory spec using the procedure you linked. Thanks for the info! I have measured vf while driving (when...

Random/Intermittent Misfire and Code 52 (knock sensors are rewired)

Which part was amusing? I wired the grounds for the shielding at the ECU, so I was able to test for continuity between the grounds and the actual knock sensor circuits easily. No continuity between them so I knew the sensors weren't shorted to ground. Today I pulled the alternator (for ease of...

Random/Intermittent Misfire and Code 52 (knock sensors are rewired)

Yup, at idle with T1 and E1 jumped timing is set to 10* per TSRM spec and instructions. Granted I haven't double checked that since adjusting the TPS and I do notice the car idles low now, so I'll recheck that again. The code 52 I'm getting resets with every key cycle and does not return until...

Random/Intermittent Misfire and Code 52 (knock sensors are rewired)

Does it mean there's a fault in the circuit, or is that also the same code that would be triggered if knock is, in fact, occuring? What are the odds that the code 52 and breaking up at higher rpm (no load) are related? I've verified continuity between the shielding and ground. No continuity...

Random/Intermittent Misfire and Code 52 (knock sensors are rewired)

Thank you for the recommendation. I thiiiiiink I fixed the misfire by adjusting the TPS. Everything is now in spec, except for one reading (E2 and EDL are supposedto be 2.3k ohms with a 50mm feeler gauge between the throttle and set screw, my reading was 9-12 ohms). It seems to be gone after...

Random/Intermittent Misfire and Code 52 (knock sensors are rewired)

Updated with further detail. I suppose I should also add that I am searching past threads as time allows. I bumped one of them hoping to get some information from the OP.

Sputtering problem in high RPMs with ECT power button on??

I think I'm now experiencing the same sputtering problem you were talking about. However, my issue seems to be more in depth as the car is randomly missing at idle and across the RPM range as well. I think I read that you mentioned this used to be happening to you... what resolved your initial...

Chrisco's 1992 Supra Build (PICTURE HEAVY)

It's alive! Starts and idles beautifully, however I think I may have fubarred something in the wiring of the MAFT because it stumbles terribly and won't really raise RPM when slowly depressing the throttle; it also runs real rich at this time (sorta runs like I remember my old '87 running with...

Chrisco's 1992 Supra Build (PICTURE HEAVY)

Quick update... Last weekend I dropped in the newly rebuilt/sealed, wiring harness-repaired, coax cable knock sensor wired, 91 7MGTE and R154 into my '92 N/A. This past saturday I installed the 3.73 diff, shaftmaster's 1 piece aluminum driveshaft, honed out the cig lighter in the center...

Haha hey man! Yeah it's been a long time, been through a few different cars over the last 5-6 years since selling the '87, but I couldn't stay away. I see you're down in Florida now, eh? Hope all is well, and thanks for the kind memories of the maroon car :) I updated the first couple posts...

    Mystery Connector

Good afternoon, everyone. Over the weekend I installed a '91 7MGTE engine and engine wiring harness into my '92 Non-Turbo Supra. Everything went smoothly with two exceptions. 1. For the life of me, I can't figure out where this connector goes... It branches out of the wiring harness in...

    Difference in knock sensors

It's the same connector used on 2JZ knock sensors, so the Toyota Dealer will have them. I just picked up a new sensor and connector/terminal/wire from the dealer earlier this week. The whole connector/terminal/wire is ~$10 USD

    Vaccum Leak Help

A vacuum leak alone (excess air) won't make the engine rev; it would have to also be receiving additional fuel. Odds are your throttle was stuck open. Make sure the throttle cable and linkage moves freely and isn't bound.

    Knock Sensor Question

Can anyone confirm whether or not the square and round plug knock sensors are compatible and can be used together? I am swapping a '91 GTE engine into my '92 (originally N/A) chassis and the '91 engine had a broken round plug knock sensor. I have the square plug sensor and harness connector from...
