A friend of mine here in town bought an ebay 2.5" hard pipe kit similar to this http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-5-INCH-UNIVERSAL-TURBO-INTERCOOLER-PIPING-KIT-BLUE-/180708427921?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a130fc891&vxp=mtr and didn't use not even half of it. I believe he paid less...
And plenty of guys that run standalone run around 25* under vacuum. Of course they have the ability to knock it down when under boost, and we don't. 15* isn't bad cruising around. Not sure how well it works under boost though.
Oh, that's right. I remember that thread. The mechanic that was double charging labor, and doing shit that just didn't make sense just to hike up the bill. His labor rate was pretty cheap per hour though. I just didn't know what became of it. This sucks. I'm sure you'll get a judgment...
Looks like a 100 shot of NOS blew the welds on that intake.
Oh my, that's a connecting rod bent up all to hell. What's left of it at least. I've never seen one that bad.
Looks like an awesome turn out. Glad you had a good time. At least you know your car can make a long distant trip. That's cool. Where did you get the leather interior bits from? They look good.
Define "its been sitting for a while". Manual transmission?
Loses power under heavy (WOT) acceleration, or moderate acceleration? Is this car bone stock? Any mods?
You could always bump up your fuel pressure until it's happy at idle & cruise. I would tap into the diagnositic block E1 + Vf1 and monitor your stock ECU making corrections.
Just be careful when testing WOT that's you're not going lean. Which turbo are you running, and how much boost do you...
At first it sounded like you have a boost leak, but your afr's would go fat it that was the case. Unless of course you're running speed density. If you're not, I'm gonna lean toward turbo whine. Are you building any boost? Your afr's stay right at 13.8 when you get into boost.
Looks to be about a $12000 (including machining work) wish list. I'd drop the egt stuff as a wideband will tell you enough about your fuel mixture. You need a turbo manifold in there, custom downpipe, fancy catback exhaust, Tial BOV & WG, BC springs and retainers to go with those cams...
You bought that MKIII on the day I turned 31. My son wasn't even born yet.
It was nice to have you here and have fun with the IS. I was once on the verge of selling my MKIII to fund my Roadrunner project. I'm having too much fun driving through some nice curvy county roads with it though.
I used a 12point Kobalt deep socket from Lowes, and it worked. With camshafts removed I didn't have to do any grinding to the washers, nuts, or cylinder head. It was straight foward for me.
Twice the displacement than the 7m, and 345hp & 380lb/ft to start with... that alone isn't fair. Then all that room in the engine bay. If he was really a baller he'd quad turbo it.
You have other daily drivers so at least you're not depending on this new car as a primary mode of transportation.
I would get the GT4 myself. If you're already prepared to do some wrenching on it and know it's not tip top then go for it. Sounds like it would be a fun project. You've already...
