I did my own cleaning up with a dremel like tool and some carbide burrs. I spent about 4 or 5 hours on it, came out really nice and I'm quite pleased with it. Other thing I did with my head was new valve springs, so I just stuck some of the Comp Cams 975 springs in. Cheap and relatively easy...
I've got the car off the road for the winter but I've been starting it up every week to clear out any moisture/condensation that has built up in the crankcase/exhaust. Lately I've just noticed that it has puffed a bit of smoke and smelt REALLY rich on initial startup, but clears up within 10...
Yeah, I couldn't believe it when I saw it on the net. I had seen the google cars around town a couple times for the brief period of time I had the Supra on the road this year, but usually it was passing the other direction and I never figured I'd actually find it. I should screenshot that just...
Like Supracentral already posted. Whenever you're considering machining, you only want to do it to correct any flaws that might exist. The performance gains you would get from overboring is little to none and not worth losing rebuild potential unless you are specifically building the engine...
I had my rear sub frame go on me a couple years ago, but that had a little help from a close encounter with the right rear wheel hitting a curb after being spinning on some slush/snow...a testament to not driving in the snow with summer tires on in a rear wheel drive car :(. I found a frame...
The SAFC will be incredibly useful along WITH a Lexus AFM. Another plus to the Lexus AFM is it is larger and will offer less restriction to your intake. Typically for a 550cc setup most people will do the following:
Fuel pump (walbro or equivelant high flow pump)
12-volt relay mod
J-tube...
If there's no voltage drop that means the starter isn't engaging at all. The voltage WILL drop if the starter is cranking. I'd still personally test the battery anyways, just to for sure confirm it good. Not likely bad, but you never know.
Check to see if you're getting voltage at the...
The cold weather severely hampers a battery's ability to give amperage. First cold night in winter time is when a lot of people find out that their weak battery (that's been working fine through the nice warm summer months) is actually dying. You can have as much as a 30% difference between...
He means the one that doesn't actually fix problems, just bypasses a bunch of wiring (and might AVOID the problem, but not fix it) after cutting up your wiring harness. Read the whole thread and you'd realize that...
(start at post #30)...
One of those "other" gaskets is the EGR cooling plate on the back of the head. Apparently most are paper where as it can use something a little more substantial. Just remembered that off the top of my head. I'm sure there's more, and I'm sure you'll get more responses :)
Off ARP's tech section:
Personally I just went and bought the ARP stuff. They made it for a reason, right? ;) I got one for like 20 bucks and it will be good for many a rebuild after if necessary.
Excpet for the fact that that is not fixing the problem. Start reading that thread at post 30 on page 3 (http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76403&page=3) and if you can understand english and very very simple electrical properties, you'll realize that the problem exists...
If pictures help you here's a couple threads I used in my own head job.

This sets it out pretty nice and simple. I have a BIC ddp on my setup, so I just pulled off the whole half attached to the turbo when I pulled mine. I didn't pull the water pipes off the top...
