    Fuel pump relay

The fuel pump resistor and relay assembly is on top of the right hand side wheel well. It's the piece that has heat-sink fins there.

How many years of operation can a mk3 Supra last ?

I got 500,000 kms out of my 7M-GE, and pulled it because I wanted to upgrade. (The blown coolant hose behind the water pump was the excuse to get the budget past my wife.)

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

Re-covered my steering wheel. Before: Stripped the old cracking and peeling leather off: Cut 2 different colours of leather (light and medium grey) to an appropriate shape Forward side of finished wheel Facing side of finished wheel: Not sure if I'll keep those...

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

Easy-out FTW. There are also rounded bolt removers (Versions of which tire shops use if you have wheel locks with no keys) which work. I was looking at a set at Canadian Tire today, about $35. Weld in an allen key piece is nice and cheap if you have access to a welder. Possibly cheaper and...

    fuel cut question

Yep. A more efficient turbo will make pressure with more mass. A less efficient turbo will make pressure with more heat. The stock turbo will not flow much more at 16 PSI than at 14 PSI, since at that point it's basically just making the intake hotter.

    Lets talk Weight Reduction

I've replaced the doors and fenders on my car, and I don't think that there's a lot of weight savings to fenders. They're pretty lightweight already, even in steel, but there's got to be SOMEPLACE to shave weight from the doors without giving up crash protection. They's SO heavy. Probably the...

    fuel cut question

Whoops. Missed that he has the Lex.560s already. It's either a boost leak or a TPS problem.

    Fog light question

I've got an '89. I re-wired my fog lights before I saw the SOGI mod. (I think I might have put a couple paragraphs into that tech tip. I know I did a few of them.) Basically, the fog light switch doesn't work from the factory unless the headlights are on. The re-wire on the tech tips uses the...

    Best clutch for the cash

I've got an ACT stage 3 from Driftmotion. After a lot of reading, I determined that it was most appropriate for my power goals (~400 RWHP) and driving style. It was the cheapest that I'd trust to hold that power. I bought an eBay "F1" clutch. The pressure plate was indistinguishable from stock...

    fuel cut question

An FCD isn't really a good idea. About 10 PSI is what you can reliably get to without hitting fuel cut. More than that can happen when it's hot, or at high altitudes. Calgary, Alberta at an altitude of about 3700 ft, most people can reliably get to 12 PSI. As stated, it's airflow, not...

    Cruising hesitation!? Neeed help!

Had a similar symptom with my ex-boss' wife's '89T. The problem was that the TPS was getting an intermittant short from IDL to E2, so the TCCS thought that the throttle was at idle, and would cut the fuel for an instant. Verified it by disconnecting the TPS for a day, and cruising around in a...

Explain Blow-Off Valves to me please?

I have the HKS SSQV (Not a knockoff) with a recirculation fitting. Without the fitting, it was very loud, which is what it sounds like the OP might be wanting, but with the recirculation fitting, it's quiet, almost as much so as stock (Which I like.) A real hard blow-off will still make a whoosh...

    '87 7M-GTE teardown/rebuild.

Pistons arrived today. Dropped them off at the machine shop (Though I guess all they really need is the paper with the specs on it for bore size, since they aren't installing them for me.) I was a bit surprised by this last. I was expecting stock compression ratio. Well, I'm not planning to...

    Over-spray problem.

Use remover on the trim with a Q-tip and get rid of the stuff that shouldn't be there. (If you got hardened paint this could take a while) You will probably remove some of the black paint that you DO want there as well, so you'll have to touch that up as well. A generic gloss black should do...

Explain Blow-Off Valves to me please?

If what you want is something that makes NOISE when you let up off the throttle then you're looking for something other than the Bosch. The Bosch has been known to make a "hooting" noise, but what most people think of when they think of the sound that a BOV makes, they're thinking of one that...

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

I got shiny new pistons. Mmmmm. I also stripped the old, cracked leather off of the steering wheel. The intent is to put new supple leather in its place. I've replaced the leather on the factory shift knob, and the shift boot on the Supra. (Replaced the shift knob with a TRD one, so the one...

Explain Blow-Off Valves to me please?

This. The Bosch valve is a reasonable upgrade for a nearly stock car. That said, there are a lot of other things that I'd attend to first, and then I'd evaluate goals and if the Bosch is going to be enough to get you there.

Supra engines, are they even-firing or odd-firing?

Technically, this does depend of your 7M is a GE or GTE. The GE uses a distributor, so there is no waste spark, it's a straightforward 1-5-3-6-2-4 pattern. The GTE uses the distributorless ignition, and fires in pairs. Still, the fact that the cams can be swapped indicates that the firing...

    stock verse front facing manifold

The numbers for "increased throttle response" due to shorter intake piping are a pain to work out, but it amounts to a couple of ms. For heat entering the IC pipe... There will be some, but there are much easier ways to avoid that. Insulating wrap, for example... Really, the point is the mods...

Trying Lexus AFM with 440's on stock CT26 for benefit of community

For clarity, I would personally never use the FCD. At all, ever. I would ONLY recommend its use as an alternative the Lexus AFM with the stock injectors. I would ALWAYS recommend the Lexus/550 over the FCD. The case that JBL made for the Lexus AFM with stock injectors was that it was safe with...
