Project Lex (aka: Teh Bean) '92 SC300

Nice job figuring the ignition thing out, Brandon! I know its a big pita when stuff goes bad, but I think it might have been a saving grace given that WG issue!

    Powdercoating an Aluminium Radiator?

For just the end tanks, powder coating should work OK as long as its applied correctly (if its not done right it'll chip/flake off :( ) I'd steer clear of the tubes and fins- doing so will reduce the heat exchanging efficiency, making your baller radiator little better than a stocker. I'd also...

    Coolant temp sensor

Well I'm glad your Supra has served you well so far! I typically find that google searches for car problems typically result in more misinformation than a search in a Make/model specific forum (you'll still get some, unfortunately) A couple pointers for your original post: First would be more...

    Coolant temp sensor

Whoa, there, bro. No need to get mean here! JJ was just poking fun at the fact that you've never had a problem since you joined- its kinda rare if you can understand :p You will not find a more knowledgeable member here when it comes to figuring out why the TCCS is doing things that him. Its...

    Jeff's MKIII picture/progress thread

IMO the poly suspension bushings tighten up the suspension, but you will notice that bumps in the road are transmitted more directly to you (and the CD player). Nothing too horrible for me, but I could see where people would not like it. For the upper control arm bushings, I used a c-clamp...

Anyone on here ever own/drive the NSX?

I'll get Rob in here (92NSX) guess why he has the username :P He owns a CTS-V, C4 Vette, and an 89 Supra. He has real life comparison abilities :D

So, Mazda is killing the Rotary again...

My FB and FC were fun to drive, although I'd like to get behind the wheel of an FD on a track :D

V-mounted MKIII Third times the charm.

V-mounting is more effective in racing where the car has more forward movement and therefore airflow. Time-attack is a great example of this. In low airflow situations (drift/auto-x/street driving) it becomes a liability. Drift is extreme in the small amount of airflow the radiator sees vs...

    Turbo swap done.

it could be the cooler if its banjo bolt isn't tight or the washer isn't sealing. I would double/triple check the oil feed fitting on the block. The inner washer that goes in between the block and the feed line is the #1 most common to fall out when installing the turbo. Plus its really hard to...

    Turbo swap done.

^This, by far is the most common with the stock lines. Other possibilities could be the oil cooler bypass bolt washer (copper also), oil filter housing O-ring (as you suspect), and the oil cooler return hose/pipe/banjo fitting (also uses copper washers)

    AEM PnP Tuning

^This. You'll be driving fine one moment, then your car will stall in the middle of an intersection. Bad news bears imo... Its slow but its woth it in the end! That, or pay a good tuner to have it done in a couple hours ;)

    Driveline Vibration

Um, driveshafts are not 'floppable'... I'd go to a driveline specialty shop and have it checked for straightness and if it passes have it balanced.

Project Lex (aka: Teh Bean) '92 SC300

:bigthumb: Its a great setup IMO. Easy to deal with and it usually works with the factory tacho (not sure if your SC is similar to the Supra, though) Good luck, Shane's the freaking man! If you make more power than me I'm going to cry myself to sleep for a week.

    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

Not sure quite yet, I haven't looked under there. My hope is that a clamp let go on the pipes inside the cabin, or an O-ring wasn't up to the pressure and blew out. A new core is ~$400 from the dealer D: Engine hoist and stand are back in the garage, engine's coming out tomorrow night!

    tranny cooler questions?

If you want to put a manual trans radiator into an auto car, you need to replace the trans cooler that was in your old radiator. A good way to replace it would be to stop at a nearby auto parts store and ask for a good quality aftermarket trans cooler to replace your existing one. I will have to...
