Much better location! First question I have is about the CEL. Is your Check engine light on and have you checked it for codes? Ofter the computer will see something it doesn't like and respond in odd ways, but it will set a code most if the time. Use a paper clip to jump terminals E1 and TE1...

Take the intake manifold apart and clean the movements inside so it works again. You would be well served in the 7MGE section if you look around, I'm sure there's a thread on how to do it. Here's a description of how the system works...

IMO, your first car should be a small econo-box. Corolla, Civic, Sentra, etc. If you crash it, its not that big of a deal, and you can keep it as a Daily Driver when you eventually get a 'fun' car.

Please no Fram filter. Wix, Purolator, Amsoil, anything but fram... Looks OK, but the 8 micron filter may be unneeded/unwanted? Jdub will have more accurate info on that, I think.
