well, there are a few different kinds, electronic and manual controllers and basically, both allow you to adjust your boost over stock psi.

i would think the turbo would work harder to maintain 6psi with a leak. so once the leak is fixed it will still be 6+ untill you use a boost controller or washers to up the boost.. and the turbo wont have to work as hard...
hell ya, those turbo mopars can be quick. my buddy has a 86 shelby charger 2.2l pushing 20+psi and about 400hp. its so old school but way fun. amazing power for a 4 banger..he wants to do a minivan just to emberrase others people when he beats them.. i like it..
