Fronts are 18"x9" offset -7, Rear: 18" x 10.5" offset -10. Based on feel, it seems that the shock adjustments affect both compression and rebound rates. I know that Tein valves their shocks to match their spring rates, because I inquired about putting softer springs into the Tein SS coilovers I...
Thanks guys. I've never bottomed out the shocks as far as I could tell. The tires were rubbing the fender liners/wells occasionally, and I have since raised the front 1/4" and the rear 1/2", and it seems to be ideal now. It only rubs lightly at the softest shock setting if I hit a massive drop...
This is correct. Less tension on your chest when driving, and helps to reel the belt in when the door opens.
I've heard of people's belts not retracting well after a while. Seems to be a common problem with some Mk3 belts. New ones might be the best option.
From what I've read, I think BOV's fluttering at LOW boost is pretty common, and in some cases normal. Mine does, with my current GBF BOV, and did the same with the bosch BOV. At high boost, it blows off just fine without the flutter.
Hey Wiisass, guys,
I am running Tein Flex coilovers, which in my opinion are the perfect balance of good handling while retaining comfort. The spring rates are about 50% higher than stock(12kgf/mm 670lbs/in front, 6kgf/mm 340lbs/in rear) and I want to minimize body roll and maximize handling...
I make about 350-390rwhp at 15-17 psi on the street, and am always doing full-throttle acceleration pulls, being a very spirited driver. It's been very reliable so far, owned the car for 2 years.
Check post #1 of this thread for the parts list. Although I'm not sure if the sideskirts are still available. I had to make dozens of phone calls over 2 months to get my pair shipped after paying for them.
Some of the of guys here are very good with photoshop. What do you need done to the picture?
I already had to miss out on Vegas because I broke down after 850 miles. Please don't single me out of the calendar!
The check valve idea seems like the best solution to me. This photo shows 2 catch cans. Why not just use one? Edit: I guess this diagram is not for Supra?
Are the two breathers on the top of the valve covers the only vents for the entire crankcase/PCV system on a 7M? Or is there a crankcase...
Targa cars have supports added to the doors that fit into the body of the car when the door is closed. They are listed as "stabilizers" in the OEM parts catalog. The function of these has been debated, but they seem to try to use the doors to brace/leverage the front and rear of the car when the...
I talked to them on the phone just now, and they said their rebuilds do include all new gears, but the rebuild kit they sell does not. I wonder what kind of break-in miles you'd need to put on new gears to seat them well enough to handle massive power? Maybe this hints at the reason for the...
Glad I could at least appease Murphy for you and let you slip by, Dave! Sucks for me, I really wanted to be there, show off the car, and meet all you USA guys. Next time I'll leave earlier to spare me some time in case something else fails!
Are you sure about this? The rebuild kits on their website do not say it includes new gears.
Duane rebuilt his R154 at a local shop here a few years ago, and got several passes on slicks at over 600hp, right? I'm about to have mine rebuilt by the same shop with some Marlin Crawler goodies...
I agree! I must give a big thanks to Randy, Dave, Stu and the other Supras for waiting around in a small town offering tools and helping me diagnose the problem with my car (Timing belt tensioner).
The previous owner of my car installed dual walbros and it is set to 50psi. The fuel pressure up VSV line has popped off a couple of times under boost, but I've now clamped it. What's the lowest I could set my pressure to so that it wouldn't be an issue if the fuel pressure did not go up under...
Very kind of you Jose! It's a real risk to drive so far and drag race in Vegas. I can totally relate. I missed out on SILV because my timing belt tensioner pulley failed on route after driving 850 miles in Wells, Nevada.
