    Painter's bullshit or truth?

Yes, in a metallic paint, it does, because the metal flakes will "lay" (for lack of a better term) differently, resulting in a different shade. At least, that's my understanding of it, anyway.

    Speed's Completely Unspeedy 1JZ. 56k is so 1990's

I may have overlooked this, but why is the car two different colors? Different paint batches or something?

    DIY Camera Rig

here (knoxville) would probably be the same way. Lucky for me, If I was going to build one of these, I could show them my university ID and tell them it's research equipment and probably get off the hook... ...I am considering something like this, as well, but for videography. I haven't really...

    Project Canon is a GO!

I've noticed that, in my own personal experience, using a higher shutter speed would help get rid of the "washed out" look of the sky. Granted, I usually shoot with pentax or nikon digitals (only shot with a rebel xti once), so the sensors may pick up light a bit differently. Was there an...

    Good deal?

Woah, you have a serious attitude problem, dude. and showing him a car in CA is like me showing you a car in Japan and saying that there are "better deals out there." ...just because there's some car somewhere on earth that's cheaper (and by cheaper I mean a better deal) does NOT mean that...

That's not really going to help a guy in the north east...

    Good deal?

...you mentioned that the pipe for the bov is missing... If it's stock, that means that you're letting in a TON of un-metered air, which would make it idle like pure ass. ...if I read that correctly, that may be something to consider.

    Tn people?

well, mine's grey with black wheels, and it's been on campus, but not since about February or so... ...I generally don't drive it in knoxville.

    Tn people?

I do. Nathan (don't remember his s/n) does. Steve (don't think he has a s/n) lives in sevierville. and there's about 3 guys in the dandridge/jefferson city area that have supras and would probably be up for it. I'll ask around and get back to ya.

    Tn people?

My car will be there on the 13th of Sept. (most likely the other days too, but we'll see) for the biggest of the rod runs. (probably without a front bumper, but whatever), and some local guys will be, too. ...Adam (Supranforever) will be there, probably riding with me. (apparently a 7m...

    2jz-ge-t + gt4088 = under 6 grand budget...

oh how true that is... for me, If I had a fiberglass/CF hood, then yes, I would have hood pins, but I just don't see the need for them on a stock hood, but that's me.

lol, yeah, that's what I was getting at.

    2jz-ge-t + gt4088 = under 6 grand budget...

lol, yeah, no kidding. I have a set of hood pins that I could throw on it, but that seems like a bit of overkill.

    2jz-ge-t + gt4088 = under 6 grand budget...

Oh, alright, that makes sense. And as I said earlier, I started this hood and discarded it a year or so ago, so it wasn't like there was a lot of planning in it. Given what I know now, I probably would have gone a different route, but I'm thinking that it wouldn't cause too much of a...

    2jz-ge-t + gt4088 = under 6 grand budget...

Wait. Rewind. How would that restrict air flow to the radiator considering that it would reduce pressure from the header panel/hood area, which doesn't wouldn't flow through the radiator anyway? If I say something stupid, let me know, because I'm kinda new to this physics-of-airflow thing. ;-)

    2jz-ge-t + gt4088 = under 6 grand budget...

...well, the weatherstripping behind the cowl is gone, so I was kinda hoping that would help the wind resistance a bit... ...plus, given the location on the hood, I was kinda banking on most of the air flowing over the hood, instead of in it. I'm considering making some ducting to direct...

    2jz-ge-t + gt4088 = under 6 grand budget...

lol, actually, I started the hood over a year ago, so by the time I got around to actually finishing it my options were rather limited... ...and arizzle: the car actually IS lowered. I think it's just how it was sitting. I actually had to take the inner fenders out and cut the tabs off the...

    2jz-ge-t + gt4088 = under 6 grand budget...

UPDATE!!!! I revised some of the information on the main post to reflect recent progress... ...also, I pulled a failed hood scoop attempt out of the woods and began working on it again. Keep in mind, this was my first EVER attempt at any kind of serious body work, so don't bash it TOO...

    Stretch's Digidash thread

I'm interested in the heads up display from the nissan. I wonder how hard it would be to retrofit if you had the whole cluster... ...maybe just use the speed sensor from the nissan?
