    thermostat spring toward the engine? Clutch fan good? Are you sure all your fans are kicking on. The two or three electric and the clutch fan? The wire that runs one of the fans get real brittle from the heat of the turbo.

    Bearings could be the problem. I replaced the bearings on my celica it was more of a humming sound. Any other symptoms to go with the over heating? coolent boiling out the reservoir?

    Using my old hks drager. It's nice and quite. You can go vvti you would just have to piece it together. I don't think it comes with a r154 but I could be wrong. Yeah I'm going 2jzgte.

    Jza 70 is only non vvti.

    1jz from a jza70 is what you need. Around 2k you get engine, flywheel, mounts, r154 tranny. And the harness is pretty easy to wire.

    Yeah the head gasket would be a easy fix. All you need is a felpro gasket and arp bolts. And 5-6 hrs. Should be easier on a n/a. Since there is no turbo.

    2jzge-t you can buy them with ecu for $400 and use your 7mgte harness to run it. A buddy of mine did that with his cressy and that thing moves. Vvti has some crazy low end torque.

    I had my engine out and used a braker bar and a 4ft pipe. I used one hand to hold the engine and the other to push down on the pipe and it came right off. I was amazed because my torque wrench didn't do Jack!
