Oil Leak between timing cover/head patchable?

That is true, and good luck getting it off any other way besides pulling it strait off, which would destroy your head gasket. And good luck finding a way to cut the fipg seal on the pan as well so you can pull it strait off. I would make sure you know where its leaking from and just pull the...

    flywheel cover?

Its called a bellhousing, but there is also a sheet metal cover on the bottom of the engine against the transmission. There is also a sheet metal piece that goes around the sides around the starter etc so it would be covered, if youre missing it someone took it out and you need to pull the...

    Flywheel bolts keep backing off...

Well the 2 bolts holding the starter are not supporting the transmission in any way, and the 4 lower bolts dont do a whole lot either considering they are just on a bracket. Theres only 4 bolts going from the transmission to the engine itself, and you've deleted two of them.

    Flywheel bolts keep backing off...

If im not mistaken the upper 2 bolts bear a lot of the load out of all of them and leaving those out is a bad idea.

    Bearing selection

Problem is very few people actually do the bearings properly, therefore very few people know anything about it. I have asked questions about these bearings and you need to be patient when waiting for answers because not many people understand the system. Have you looked at the numbers stamped on...

    Coolant stained cylinders?

This motor is going to be "rebuilt". It was just professionally rebuilt less than 10k miles ago. I already took a look at a few main and rod bearings and they look almost perfect, and they are stock select fit Toyotas, so the bottom end is ready to go, its just the cylinders i need to recondition.

    My 86½ N/A Project Fiona

MHG isn't going to hurt on both NA and Turbo applications, but for stock power its not necessary. And for NA, its really overkill. I say if you want, go for it since you are pulling it all apart and doing all the machining, but if its really much extra work, i would just stick with a stock...

    Flywheel bolts keep backing off...

If you put the flywheel back on the crank in the same spot it came off, does it sit flat? If so that is probably your best bet, doesn't look too great!

    My 86½ N/A Project Fiona

not even gonna ask.... BTW are you doing an NA or turbo build? Looks like someone put a MHG on an NA... why would anyone do that unless it was turbo'd..

    metal HG vs normal HG

This is definitely not good information... Doing it the right way involves checking everything to make sure they are within acceptable specs, not doing useless and unnecessary work. BTW pulling the motor isnt the difficult/time consuming part. Explain to me how pulling the entire engine apart...

    swapable parts?

Yes, the only major differences are the pistons, intake cam, upper intake plenum, valve covers, turbo, manifold, block (oil drain and pressure feed ports), cam position sensor, fpr, cant think of any more off the top of my head. The fan is different, but you can use a turbo fan on an NA.
