A piston engine in a RX7 is the only way to fix it IMO.
I like the idea of a JZ in a foxbody, it's original, but when I think mustang I think of torque...
Hoses is always a good idea. They're probably cracked and worn out due to 20 years of exposure, better replace them now then on the side of the road one night.
A compression test will make sure you've got good cylinder pressure but a leakdown test can help you find where you're losing pressure...
Not to mention most of these engines have 100k+ miles on them, and burn/leak oil. If you're the type that doesnt make it a habit to check the oil periodically it's not going to hurt to run an extra qt for insurance.
The owners manual calls for an oil change every 5,000miles, and oil and filter every 10,000mi.
Oil sways from side to side during hard cornering and can uncover the oil pickup from being fully submerged. iirc 6qt's doesn't touch the crank, the pan is deep enough.
There are many variables. Condition of the engine is a huge one. If you don't know the condition of your engine it would be a good idea to take it apart and find out before trying to make big power. You WILL break things, it's almost inevitable when shooting for high power. But if you're smart...
