well the information is out there, you can use a 2jz ecu but you lose the RPM limit you had on your 1j.. it will now have the lower rpm limit. if you want to wire it yourself i suggest extending the wire from the plug so you wont have to worry about old solder down the road messing up signals...

you can get an auto with it. the a series is a really good transmission Imho.. and cheap to replace if they die. look at IJ's build he has an auto :) although it is a built auto with a 2jz turbo auto valvebody

or you can cut the firewall and route the harness under the dash, i hear it works that way as well.
