Well this is the 3rd alternator I've tried on the thing. First one I tried was a spare I had sitting around that I got off a junk car, the batt. and brake light didn't come on with that one. Second one was a brand new one from an auto parts store and the batt. and brake light came on with that...
I actually think I might have found the problem. Theres a wire that attaches to the back of the alternator and has a small cylinder on it. I saw that was on my old, dead alternator and I put it on my new alternator I just have to put the alternator on the car tomorrow and we'll see then. I just...
They are engine specific because the NA's use a distributor and the Turbo's have a coil pack. I've had mine on for over a year with NGK iridium spark plugs and they work fine.
Does this mean my battery is bad? The alternator is a brand new 100amp MR2 alternator. Also from my research there is a fusible link inbetween the alternator and the 100amp fuse INSIDE the fusebox. If this FL was bad the car wouldn't start correct?
This might help too. I charged the battery with a charger and tested the battery with a volt meter 12.28 volts. I then started the car and tested with the voltmeter with the negative prong on the negative battery terminal and the positive prong on the power wire where it attaches to the...
I would get an aluminum one just cause the carbon fiber ones are made so as a "weak link" for higher horsepower cars so that the DS will break first instead of the trans or rearend. IMO just get another aluminum one from SS or HPF unless you are running over 500whp.
Are you letting the car warm up enough before you do this? Also I would recheck your BOV, I would almost put money that with your fuel set-up and an atomosphereically vented BOV your car is getting stupid rich inbetween shifts. Have someone ride behind you when you do this and look for black...
^haha Ian!!
It kinda sounds like Forrest Gump goes to Japan.
I'm gonna go to the movie theater the night it opens just to see what kind of cars show up.
