You should PM a mod and have them change the title of this one and make it your build thread.
Is that original paint?
Are the sawblades currently polished or black?
That sucks. Wish you could make it. TX2K10?
Thanks, believe me, I'm anxiously awaiting the day.
I did, but right now I have a primer Supra.
Nope, that wasn't me.
The engine bay is ready for another (hopefully final) coat of primer, and I've been sanding the rest of the car. It seems that it was re-painted once on the passenger side and 3+ times on the driver's side. The front of the front fender and rear of the rear quarter have an extra layer making 4...
The coolant passage is completely separate in the casting, so there's no way you could be losing coolant out the exhaust, or into the oil for that matter, via the turbos.
The lower bumper isn't too bad. The lines don't match up to the hood well though. Looks a lot better than that other sheet metal abomination on YouTube though!
There's always lots of sanding :)
Speaking of, my fingers hurt. Laid down some guide coat and wet sanded about 2/3 of the engine bay. Ran out of sandpaper though. I'm hoping to have the engine bay in final primer by this weekend. Then on to the rest of the car. The engine bay is the hardest...
Last one for today I promise :)
As a side project, I cleaned and POR-15'd the front subframe and LCA's:
I was getting a lot of moisture in the air when running the air file for long periods of time, so I put together some water traps and bought a desiccant dryer for the compressor. I now...
Stock fuel tank and trunk floor are going away in lieu of a cell and dual mufflers. I cut out the trunk floor and shaved the gas door. I got a little hasty with the grinding and caused some low spots, but nothing a skim coat of filler won't take care of.
Here are the mufflers...
I had some rust in the battery tray area so I drilled out the spot welds and after several iterations of chemical paint stripper and rust remover it was good to go again. I stitch welded the body seams in the engine bay then laid out a layer of kitty hair on the seams.
I added a...
Next I got busy welding up unused holes in the engine bay and from the old rear spoiler. Unfortunately I had yet to do the gas conversion on my cheapo welder and was using flux core at the time so the welds aren't pretty. I guess that's what grinders are for, right?
It's been a long time since my last update, hasn't it :) I mean a LONG time.
Let's see, my parts came in from Shine in January. Yes, JANUARY.
I bought the Bomex whale tale from the group buy, Bomex sides, and a Trial front lip. Here are some test fit pics (with a different lip, Ken at Shine...
The 206 or the Nissan color?
I'm doing it all myself so the only cost is materials. And of course many, many hours of prep. I don't want to do it twice so I want to pick the right color the first time.
Does anyone have pics of a nice shiny 206 car that shows the pearl in the paint? I saw a few in the black cars thread but they don't really show the pearl. My car was originally 206 but was sprayed over with a crappy single stage black. I'm painting it now and trying to decide on 206 or...
