This Is Why A JZ Manifold Cannot Be Used On A 7M

I've seen this question asked so many times and answered incorrectly just as many times so I thought I would put this together so I can just post a link and save everyone the time of repeatedly answering it. The JZ intake manifold will not and does not fit on the 7m, nor will the upper half...

    intake manifold question

I'm going to go out to my garage and take pictures of the 7M and 2J intake and post it up and hopefully it will be made a sticky so I never have to see this stupid question again. Wishful thinking I know.

    Why did it leak?

I ignored this problem on my 88 winter beater until I got a flat and my spare was frozen into the wheel well with 2 inches of ice. What a bitch that was, change them now if you haven't already done it.

    Pro EFI StandAlone ECU

The tuning for ProEfi is supposed to be vastly simpler than AEM while still retaining all the features plus more. So it's slightly more expensive to buy but a fuck of a lot cheaper to tune.

Another MK3 1jz swap. The dreaded wiring harness!

^+1 That thread in his signature has helped me get through this 2J swap with a lot less headache. When my swap is done I'm sending you a case of booze!

help on engine choices for my ford v8 swapped fc rx7 build

^ +1 He said it perfectly. You already made up your mind before making this thread so why ask?? It's clear the consensus is that the 302 is garbage in comparison to the LSx but you won't hear it so let's just end this thread. FORD4LIFE

help on engine choices for my ford v8 swapped fc rx7 build

Well you're really going to have a tough time keeping this on topic. You're asking a supra forum for advice on old mustang motors.

help on engine choices for my ford v8 swapped fc rx7 build

I just swapped a p.i. mod motor into a Lincoln town car yesterday haha It's not about LSx being better, it's just that if you're building a car why wouldn't you want to use the better motor? But if you're only looking for 450 wheel on a carb car, then the 302 should work fine...

help on engine choices for my ford v8 swapped fc rx7 build

The LSx motor is put into everything because they are the best V8 engine you can get. The LSx, 2JZ and 4G63 are pretty much the 3 best engines ever made. If you HAVE to use a ford motor because you can't swallow the LSx awesomeness then I'd try a motor from an 03-04 Cobra (which actually had...

    changing fuel pump

I've pulled the access panel to pull the sender before but didn't really look around when I was in there. No need for pictures then, I will just go look and figure it out if it's visible. Thanks for the help!

Anyone have pictures of the area that you would cut an access hole?

You know you're a supra owner when you go to get your spare tire out of the back in the winter and it's frozen in place by 3 inches of ice because your hatch fucking leaks.

head was shaved too much off!

compression has nothing to do with timing. It will let you run bigger cams and spool a larger turbo faster though. Compression is your friend.

    Pulling engine possibly deck block

What he is saying is you need to make sure that the decking on the head you already had done was sufficient for a good seal on a metal head gasket. You should find out from the machine shop how much they took off your head and make sure you tell the guy doing your engine so that they don't end...

head was shaved too much off!

There are two mk3's at Schmidts salvage yard in Madison. One has a gte and an R154 in it. I just took the clutch and brake pedal out of them a week or so ago.

    2jz-gte vvti in mk3

Not unless you're going to wire in all you're ignition, climate control and everything else that needs power like lights etc separately. It's about a lot more than making your gauge cluster work. You really do need to do it the right way. Wiring is massively important.

    2jz-gte vvti in mk3

Correct. It allows for 30 degrees of timing change and does give you decent overlap of the intake and exhaust. I'm running a 6266 on a .68 housing, stock compression and 264's with E85 so I should get full spool early which will help negate some of the lost low end. If you have adjustable cam...

    2jz-gte vvti in mk3

I have a vvti 2J and I will not be running vvti because the cams are too fucking expensive. Plus I'm running 264's for this summer only and then going bigger with a built engine and higher compression. At that point the bigger cams will offset the benefits of the vvti anyway.
