It will take far more abuse than that! My first car was an 83 tercel. I totalled it 3 different times times and fixed. When I was done with it, it was an 83, 84, 85, and an 86 all combined. It changed from a DX to a LX. After 3 blown transmissions, countless blown and bent shocks and spindles...

Very easy conversion. The hardest part is romoving the instroment cluster.
