ive had this same problem oddly =/ it actually did it on and off and acted funny but i didnt have my ls400 long enough to get into it.. i bought a new TPS and trac tps and was going to do a round of maintenance but i sold the car instead and did the 2jz swap ;p
people usually use the non turbo voltmeter, or cut out the old one and put the aftermarket one in its place.
the sensor for the oem gauge is an electric sender near the cruise control/ignitor/stuff like that. could jsut run the vac line that went to it to your new gauge
