sounds like it could be a bad ground somewheres off your battery. my dads truck did the same thing a while back...when the engine was cold it would start but when it got warm it wouldn't...his turned out to be a worn out battery ground.

the alternator doesn't need any modification so that the belt aligns properly...i had to get the pulley shaft on my 2jz power steering pump machined so that the belt lined up
