Slowly wrapping it up. I just need a slip yoke for the trans now and a driveshaft. Well I got a ton of nickel and dime stuff like gauges and interior and stuff but the big things are almost behind me. Thanks for your support!
I will be pulling the motor again to do a timing belt install and water pump as soon as I verify the integrity of the car, dont wanna put too much into a chassis that might pretzel!! I will polish that jewel then! Thanks
Thanks for all the support guys!! Also a HUGE THANK YOU to aphxero who got me out of a mental block on the wiring and even took time out of his day to help me figure it out. Awesome guy!
Car should be in the body shop for paint within 2 weeks, after that its just a rear end swap, finish...
Engine bay will remain black. Seems to be a trend and I am lazy so..... plus its easy to touch up.
Oh yeah and that oversprayed up mastercylinder......Its going in the nearest dumpster, I am putting a new one in so the plastic will be clear again and I can actually read the level.
Motor was installed, wired , and ran for a few short seconds. Pulled it again and Im now scrubbing it and powdercoating the valve covers and all that stuff as well as painting the engine bay. Getting close!
Does anybody know what wires have to be energized or grounded (if any) in the big aristo plug? Keep in mind I just need to start and run, dont need any gauge or idiot light wiring. I have all of the connections made to the e10 pins on the ecu (ign, bat, mrel,b, b1) and when the harness is powered...
Ok so I cannot find out how to power up the injectors and igniter??? Is it simple and Im missing it? I hear there are some b/r wies that need energized? Where are they located in the aristo harness?
I am not going to built the cage until the interior is back in so I can assess the least intrusive way to run the pipes. I am however going to make a set up weld in subframe connectors that will be an H shape that double as a trans mount. That alone should make the car rigid enough but Im still...
Firewall V2.0 LOL The anticipated 4 inch recess I did was not enough...unless I wanted the waterpump to double as a bumper. This is form fitting to the motor with clearances for servicing the engine while in the car. Albeit very stealth fighterish I am pretty happy with the results. Its all...
LOL Cool!! I think there will be a ton more interest now that there is a motor in the picture. I think before the motor was in it was just a "Im putting a turbo on my cavalier" dream thread that few people took seriously.LOL
Hahaha I wish it was in there for good!! Once all the fab is done its getting blown apart and every piece will be scrubbed back to original finish or refinished. The oil pan will def be resprayed. Thanks for your interest. It feels good to know at least one person is following the thread!!!
Got the motor in. What a bitch. I had to completely redo the firewall and almost remove it entirely. The crossmember was the only thing that actually didnt completely interfere, its almost perfectly shaped. Anyway here are some pics.
The big nuts under the motor...
Going to pick up my motor on Friday!!! Should have had it earlier but the JDM importer sent a 2j paired with a getrag 6sp to the local warehouse and needless to say they wanted like 5,000.00 for it so I told them to eat one and reordered the Aristo swap I originally wanted. Should have some...
Ground off the MAZDA on the calipers and painted them. Finished product looks like this.
If anybody is searching for Brake upgrades for a KP61 Starlet and comes across this thread I have actual size caliper bracket templates and part numbers for the rotors.
Thanks! I found out the rotors are from a Toyota Camry but I kept the part number as well as had it put in my warranty history at AutoZone. Im going with aftermarket AE86 struts since they look to be the same. I am getting new lower arms with new ball joints (only 40 bucks!!!) so it should all...
Ok so it took me a bit longer than I thought to get some progress done on the car. Been doing a ton of body work and stopped for a few days to tackle the front brakes. I was able to fit 11.5 inch rotors off of something...who knows just went though the parts store till I found what I needed and...
