Just start it and let it run afterwards, thats what I did. I know water doesn't like to compress, but it was just the Cressida engine.

^ I'd put my money on a shitty plug. Sounds exactly like what happened when I power washed the engine bay on the Cressida. Water gets down in the plug boot and it wont spark, get the water out of there and I bet it runs fine (I just took the plug out and let it go into the cylinder...

The linkage is easy to do. get under the car, have someone move the shifter from say Neutral toward P, note which way it goes. Then loose the bolt on the linkage (12mm I believe, right under the shifter) turn the little arm on the trans all the way in the direction that P was from park and...
