Problems diagnosing a non running car

Blowing EFI fuses.... -Check the ground wires under the intake to make sure they haven't become loose? -Check the little ground strap on the coil packs? -CPS? Those are the only things that I can think of right off the top of my head. The grounds being the first to check. Throwing...

    need to make power

Full NA->T swaps are a breeze! Just get a 7mgte, a turbo engine harness/ecu from the same year as your car and put them together, you'll have to get a turbo tach and get an aftermarket boost gauge, but the rest is pretty much the same. Although you still have an oil cooler/IC hoses/exhaust to...

    what to buy for swap?

Just a word of caution, don't put any extra "spacers" (those metal things that go on the flywheel kinda like a washer) or you'll end up having to pull the trans to take one off because the clutch disc will hit the bolts. It sucks having to pull an engine/drop a trans just because of some...

    Check Engine Light

^ Mine did that when I first got it together. Kept driving it and a few days later it stopped doing it. Double check all your vac lines, it sounds like one may be off

buying an engine with a bhg - bad idea?

If that engine has been sitting for a long time I'd check to make sure that the cylinder(s) aren't all rusted out like the one I got. Because if they are then you have to factor in the cost of machining, rings, and bearings(roughly $7-800+) and while you did all that it'd be stupid not to get...

How to break in a new engine

I am not looking forward to this w/ my rebuild... Al explained the whole process to me once and really ripping on it made total sense. I don't really remember what he said though. My dad is really old school, so he's gonna crapp himself when he finds out I'm basically beating it to death from...

Who here has changed their HG themselves?

^ yeah, it's not very hard at all if you have any mechanical knoweledge. "to save a thousand bucks"... I'd try it myself and spend $50 or so for an OEM to try myself before I paid someone that kind of money to do it for me.
