/\Good luck on that one.. Extremely doughtful you would be able to accomplish that. It would be so much more cost affective to just upgrade the turbo rather than spend tons of money on trying to make an inefficient turbo fast. It would be very hard to break into the 12's on the stock turbo.
I have heard horror stories with 7M's even with under 100k miles. You just don't know how what this engine has been through in the last 19 years.
I have not had any problems over the last 5 years with my rebuilt stock internalled 7M other than the head lifting from running so much boost. And...
I local guy in his MK4 used to put down consistant high 9's at 143-145mph on a single disk clutch- HPF Feramic.. Of course that is on a bigger MK4 clutch. Not to mention it only lasted 17 runs before the disk needed to be "re-pucked"
If your 7M has high miles or is unhealthy, get it rebuilt. If your not sure of the condition, get it rebuilt.
You can only bore so much, so either way it won't increase your displacement much at all.
At a bare minimum I would upgrade the headbolts and get a MLS headgasket. With the rebuild...
Aye Mate, very good numbers.. If you had an EVC your power curve would be much better. Your boost is creeping up to 16psi, but in the midrange, your only at 12-13psi.
"Didn't DR Jones come close to 11's on a stock motor and turbo? IIRC"
Nope, he had an SP57..
I remember MK3Supraguy ran a 12.0 at 115mph on an upgraded CT-26 and he could never repeat it.
Probably a google search would do you better. I personally beleive you would need to make a rediculous amount of power or have some crude tuning to bend or break any of these rods from what I've heard.
From my experience:
CT-26 (57trim)- Cheap. Almost instant response, tons of torque, but does not pull hard to redline. Not much happening after 20psi.
SP61GT- No more instant response, but smoother and still plenty quick spooling. Lots of power, pulled hard into the rev limiter. High...
The upgraded CT-26 is definantly the biggest bang for the buck.
But if your willing to spend a little extra, I would go with the Boss or SP61GT that can bolt on to your stock manifold and downpipe. Your 7M will have great top-end power that you will never see in the CT-26choker.
Yeah Brent. I had no idea what was going on when it happened to me. Especially since I have never heard of anyone having this problem before. I wish I would have known about it and new about that reverse trick to break it loose; that would have saved me a lot of money in towing fees.
"humm i still have this fuldenza
i kinda wana run it thou"
Don't do it. It's not worth it. I had the clutch/flywheel conbination that you are talking about and it welded on me. All it took was a burnout. I have been running the stock flywheel and bronse clutch for a while now with no...
"My boys honda makes 630 hp on a built bottom. The head has stock cams. After market valve springs , valves and retainers. The valves are standard size and the head is not ported. He runs a gt4067 and gets max boost at 5grand. Alot of the succes with honda motors come from the hemi design...
Thats because the honda has many more mods than your typical supra. Put cams, intake manifolds, ported heads, bigger valves, standalone engine management and the supra engines will make that power too with a 35R.
Most of the guys who go all out with supras are the ones usually running a much...
About 13 years ago, I worked for two different Toyota dealers. I was in a toyota sponsered program that was for getting an associates degree through the community college in automotive technology. The program was great but the PRIVATLY OWNED dealers sucked.
The first dealer was ok. They...
I have seem plenty of C6 Z06's at the local track. Most of them were running very high 11's to 12.0's at about 124-125. Most of these guys were on street tires. I would imagine with some sticky drag tires, mid 11's would be more common. But I think 10's on a stock Z06 is very very rare.
I...
