Alright. So my tail lights are no longer lighting up when I hit my headlight switch. The thing is, it isn't the bulbs, because they still light up when I apply the breaks. It also isn't the fuse, I checked it and swapped it with another one just in case. The guy at the parts place suggested it...
Hah, I didn't even know mine was blocked off till I looked. The previous owner CLAMPED both ends down and did what looks like a makeshift welding job to seal the deal.
I don't mean to veer this thread off topic but can the cps be swapped into the 7mge head in place of the distributor or are they basically two different heads. I would answer your question but I don't know the answer.
Also, about that gasket from the y-pipe to the intake, uh just to warn you...
figured out the problem, turns out it was an open circuit for the wire going into pin number three of the switch, which should be ground for the thing to operate correctly based on the continuity diagram in the tsrm. problem solved by cutting the wire going into the switch for pin three and...
ok, 89 non-turbo 5spd. My passenger window goes down but does not go up. The switch/motor/regulator are all fine. The problem is lack of power. I see two cables running into the regulator/motor. Red and Green I think. My plan is to re-route a power wire from the battery directly to one of these...
Oh yeah, when you do get this thing put back together, remember remember remember after it's running for 5 -10 minutes shut it down and do an oil change pronto! That should take care of anything that fell into the oil galleys
About the coolant passages possibly having debris in them, maybe if you sealed off the oil galleys and cylinder chambers you could run a hose directly into each coolant passage and flush everything out through the bottom water inlet/outlet. as long as they all run down/up wouldn't that work...
Dude, fuck those stock valve cover bolts. Jesus they aren't even bolts they're practically screws! Go to NAPA and get the same size thread and length with ALLEN WRENCH HEADS!!1 woohoo! they look so cool and they can actually be TORQUED TO 22 lb specs! :biglaugh:
Oh I just meant if you don't need to get the head machined due to warpage... don't! Haha no need, it would just be like doing something that REALLY doesn't need to be done. definitely double double check it if you think it's warped. All your valve seals should be replaced though and possibly the...
ok, my starter works fine. the problem is that the only way I get it enough juice is through a terrible ghetto made at home starter switch that hooks directly to the battery. The car is manual and because of the switch I'm able to bypass the starting with the clutch depressed which I guess is...
Very cool pics man. I work at autozone and I can tell you that looks EXACTLY like a fel-pro headgasket for the 7mge. Which is very shitty and cheap. I don't know what the stock hg looks like but I know that if it looks as crappy as that... jeez. There's a section on the Cygnus site that shows...
I was considering rebuilding my stock na motor into a turbo but won't I have to swap the entire intake/ignition/power steering reservoir stuff? Replacing the pistons/connecting rods and possibly even the crank is a given, it's just all the little electronic turbo parts that I would be worried...
How are you supposed to know if there is a crack in your engine block/head then? After the warranty is over and it starts smoking? How can you even tell them there is a crack in it and get the block replaced if you can't remove the head to do a visual inspection?
Oh yeah, mine didn't start once because of gas. That was just reckless on my part because even though I knew my fuel gauge wasn't functioning I drove it around and still forgot to keep the extra jug of gas in my car, which I actually bought for situations where I might ran out of gas lol.
Or...
I changed my spark plugs and valve cover gasket today and I was having the same rough idling and dying symptoms, turned out to be a vaccuum leak... a VERY small one at that. So put your head to the engine and listen to it for the brief moments it starts before it dies and listen for the...
now they sell them for 1250, without transmission... but free shipping! But it still doesn't beat osakajdm, which would be about 1k with shipping apparently.
Well, i wasn't planning on just dropping in the engine seeing how my plans are to swap all the internals with exception to the crank. But your story about the cracked block is the thing that worries me the most. A LOT of people have recommended osakajdm. Not just from this forum but from a few...
