Need some advice on a knocking 7mgte

I have to agree with everyone else. It really is in your best opinion to have a daily driver, and keep the supra as a project. I was in high school when I bought my 300zx and it was my daily driver. I ended up doing basic mods to it...i.e. exhaust, downpipe, intercooler, fuel mods. The problem is...

Thank god for 42 degree days in Wisconsin during January. Almost ready to pull the engine and transmission. Here are a few quick 300zx pictures. Dont have time to upload any right now so Ill just throw up the ones from my photbucket. And if any of you are interested in having your...

    Location for nitrous

Thats exactly what I said. Nitrous oxide raises your cylinder pressures to there peak sooner then normal combustion in an NA or Turbo car. Therefore to prevent making an attempt at forcing your crank straight through 7 main caps, you retard ignition timing. In this way, you are allowing the...

    Nissan guy builds a Toyota

Just seeing the picture in your sig, ForcedTorque, is making me love the fact that I bought this red car even more! I have a little bit of a background in turbocharged cars, and by little I mean way way to much for a normal sane person. I've found that research and other peoples knowledge can...

    Nissan guy builds a Toyota

Having a red supra was not originally my first choice (sorry red car owners). As a matter of a fact its the only non-white/black car I own. I was looking forever for a white Supra to park in the garage next to my white 300zx, but the Supra I bought was a deal and rust free in the midwest is...

    Oil Dipstick causing massive leak???

GrimJack, I agree completely. The oil dipstick is not under pressure and would cause a very small leak even if the dipstick wasn't inserted at all. I wouldn't limit it to a high pressure line though. It's possible that the filter is double gasketed or missing the gasket all together. More then...

    Is This Normal?

I would recommend avoiding HEET like the plague. Alcohol and fuel pumps do not mix very well (ask anyone who owns a non E-85 GM car and has put E-85 in). Also, if those are the original catalytic converters that are functioning spot on! You should take them off your car and sell them to me...

    Nissan guy builds a Toyota

Thanks guys. I'll check out that midwest section. Yeah it was really nice finding a rust free car after all the work I had to go through with my Z. With my 300 I had to replace the right rear quarter panel and door sill. Not something I look forward to having to do again. More pictures coming...

    Chroming parts?

Ahhh chrome paint sure has gotten better. I think i have a magazine that car was on the cover of. Valve covers are defiantly chrome plated. Surface appears way to smooth to be anything other then plated.

    What's up everyone

I wouldn't go so far as to say there is hope for the future. Its not much of a business! I'm a Subway Sandwiches franchisee. No, unfortunately no Vista Cruiser yet! Maybe one of these days, as long as it has wood side paneling. Would IJ. be the other Ian we have on here?

    Nissan guy builds a Toyota

For some odd reason, I am one of few 21 year old males in this part of the country that has an attraction to mid/late 80's Japanese sports cars. So to go along with the 300Zx I have already built, I have added a Supra to the collection. Pictures from the day I bought it. Engine had a rod...

Making my own/Re-Wiring my Engine harness.

I'll give a call to my buddy who works for a Toyota dealer down in Naperville IL and see what he can find out for me. The Ecu plugs are great. The injector clips, TPS, IAC and everything else is pretty much junk though. Like I said before, 50% of UTI grads couldnt diag their way out of a...

Making my own/Re-Wiring my Engine harness.

Ahhh just remember UTI commonly stands for Under Trained Idiots and not everyone that comes out of that place has a clue. As a matter of a fact, 50% of the kids that I "graduated" with could not diagnose there way out of a wet paper bag with a machete. If he still goes to UTI, he will have...

    Location for nitrous

I dont know if I would be saying that you can run more nitrous then boost. Yes nitrous is cold er then the pressurized air being forced into the cylinder. The problem with nitrous is that it changes the way peak cylinder pressure in the cylinder is achieved. N20 stays in its chemical state until...

Making my own/Re-Wiring my Engine harness.

I would like to think so. UTI grad. 3 years in the field so far, as a Cadillac, Corvette, and Diesel technician for GM. I wish I would not have told my Service Manager that my specialty was electrical and driveability. The guy doing brakes in the corner of the shop always seems like he is...
