LOL, thanks for all the tips but I'm still confused on one thing: Will the stock gauge show pressure while cranking or not? :) Some of you say yes, while others say no. Which is it? :)
So far, I've been waiting for pressure to show on the gauge.
How long can I safely crank the engine?
The starter wire gets pretty hot after cranking for thirty seconds, which is why I shortened the cranking time to 15 seconds. However, apparently 15 second bursts with a minute in between isn't long enough, as I'm still not showing anything on the...
^^^ I don't have a spark plug socket with me today, so I'm priming it with the spark plugs in the engine.
Cranking it this way, will the gauge eventually move or will it stay at 0 PSI? I've been cranking on it which seems like forever. I spun off the oil fill cap, and there's oil on the cam...
That makes sense, as I know I've cranked it enough by now that it should have oil throughout the whole system.
Do you think it'd be safe to try to start now?
I figured I'd bump up this thread instead of starting a new one....
I just finished my GE to GTE swap, and I'm trying to prime the oiling system before starting the engine. I cranking the engine 15 seconds at a time, then give it about a minute to cool the starter & wire down. So far, I've...
I found two threads. One on SF, and one on SM. Here are the links.

Call Jeff Watson at Champion Toyota (1-800-327-2087), and get a quote from him. Be sure to tell him your a member at Supramania, and I'll bet he'll give you better quote than $270.
I thought about reversing the connections to the coolers, but never thought of adding a thermostat. I'll have to look into that.
Thanks for the tip. :bigthumb:
^^^ I hooked it up after the stock cooler.
After doing some searching online, I found that the recommended way to hook up a cooler is like this. Go from the transmission, through the stock cooler, then to the tranny cooler, and finally back to the transmission. Kinda like this cheesy diagram...
I went a slightly different route for a tranny cooler.
I had an extra tranny cooler sitting around that came off a Dodge 2500HD. I figured there's no sense in letting it go to waste, so I found a spot to mount it on the Supra. The cooler is between 1/3 to 1/2 of the size of the A/C...
But of course. Only criminals would have the surplus income to be able to dump >$100,000 into their cars to make them that fast. :sarcasm:
If the movie portrayed everyday people like us, there'd be fewer racing scenes; and more of the movie would be spent watching the people trying to save...
I'll play.
This is how my 86.5 looked when I bought it on Ebay.
It had APC stickers in the windshield, and in the rear quarter windows. (Who puts "American Products Company" stickers on a Japanese car)? Anyway, those were removed as soon as I got the car home.
Don't forget about Siren (also Poodles' avatar pic), as he was also a G1 pre '89 Supra Transformer.
Allegiance: Autobot

^^^Thanks, jdub. Looks like I'll be adding in a bypass filter at some point down the road. Looks like it worth installing.
I'm just about done swapping my GE for a GTE, and I'll be running GC when I put it on the road. I plan on doing a virgin analysis (to establish a baseline) when I get...
The key to saving money at the pump, is not by changing the way YOUR CAR uses fuel; but to change the way that YOU use fuel.
I've been walking to work every day now for the past few months, and that has made a HUGE difference in the amount of gas I consume each month. I know that walking to...
The peak torque looks great on the low end, but it lost a lot of area under the curve, as things fall off quick after that peak torque.
Those graphs are more than enough to convince me to sell off the N/A cams I have laying around.
