I'm interested in this aswell, i made my exhaust myself and i actually want a cutout... but the problem with all this is that everything on my car will be thoroughly inspected when i'll be trying to register it in Germany. They don't like non-stock and they hate custom but i want a cutout lol.
I can't remember any aftermarket ones. I also can't remember anyone needing an even stronger axle then the stock mk3 axle. Just look for a supra being parted out.
What no pics ? I don't think you'll get an answer here though. You might have to try www.supra-forum.de . There are probably not that many germans on this board ;)
It's not so much the surface that is giving me problems (i have it bolted to the lower runners atm and it will straighten out that part) but the problem is that the middle runners have dropped down 4-5mm. So that's what i need to fix.
Well here's an update. I have the ffim itself almost finished. I only need to get the TB flange welded onto the plenum, cap the end of the plenum, add the AIT sensorbung and add some vac connections.
As you can see i have also found a way to retain the stock cables and stock...
Yup, pretty much. I will cut the tube in half (lengthwise) then grind the runners flush, weld them, shape and polish each inlet and then weld the tube back together. That's pretty much it.
I used a 53mm holesaw to cut the holes roughly since it seemed to be a pretty close match to the runners...
First thing will be cleaning the runners so they are clean at least, inside and outside. Then i will make the holes that i have marked now. then i will angle the holes according to the runner.
Radiusing the inlets will be a pita. I can't get them as round as i would like to but i will try to...
Pictures it is:
Mind you this will be a rough template so i at least have an idea where to start drilling holes tomorrow. Right after i split the 4" tube in half ofcourse.
Well i have my paper template ready, i started with halves for each of the four "sets" of runners. Then i put one side together, then the other and finally put every thing together as a whole. Took two new A4 pieces of paper and traced that templated onto that one. Cut the holes out and they fit...
Well i'm trying to avoid it as much as possible. Cutting up paper for both set of double runners and for both single runners. Then i'm going to fit them together so that they match lengthwise and then trace onto a bigger piece of paper to get a one piece template. Then i'll trace it onto the...
I'm about to start on the template (will probably do 2 or 3 to see which one would work best) but i really want a completely round plenum. But i will be smoothing the entries like you said. That's quite possible the thing i like the most on custom ffim's so it'd be stupid not to do it on my own...
Spraypaint would be one option, but only if you are using a flat surface and and using runners that are perpendicular to the plenum. The further you move the plenum over the runners, the wider the area that runners cover gets. So in the end to make the runners go inside the plenum you'd have to...
