What is the advantage of this modification?
I would think there has to be some drawbacks in very hot or very cold weather.
I can't imagine Toyota ran coolant lines to the ISC unless they thought it was vital to this component.
I'm looking at those tails, and picturing the tails on my 87...and I'm pretty sure those are a straight bolt on, no drilling, no center piece...just six nuts each and go.

Yeah...I seem to remember something like that but couldn't find it. Conversely, I know there was a guy over on SF that had pretty good luck with it.
Still staring at workbench...
Yeah, but you're only making 814hp:sarcasm:.
I agree wholeheartedly, I'm just a wee bit worried about sealing on the block side (although it looks pretty good, just not mirror finish like the head. My cometic worked well, but I didn't want to surface the deck again.
Arghhhhhhhhh....I can't...
About $500 in parts, in addition to the parts I supplied (springs, shims, keepers etc), he got the valves, guides and the rest.
It turned out to be about $400 more than I had originally been quoted, but the guy called me to tell me. Still, what can you do at that point? You're in up to your...
Agreed...but not an option.
This has been done many times, and as I said my deck is pretty good but not perfect, so I am going to proceed and will post w/ results. I am just trying to get the general consensus for which sealer is likely to yeild the best result...copper or disk brake quiet?
I...
I know...I know...but I can't send the block out right now or I would. I understand what you're saying...you're right...absolutely right.
But given that for now I have to do this... what would you use?
Hommer = 1 vote copper spray
All competent parties please chime in.
I just got my head back (see my other post about mhg sealer) Top to bottom all the good stuff...$1600.
I feel you brother.
I gotta go burn the receipt so my wife doesn't find it.
I've been searching and reading but couldn't find a thread that exactly addressed this (although much has been said about it).
Which is a better sealant...Disk Brake Quiet or Copper Spray?
I've got a HKS non-coated metal head gasket, my concern is the deck on my block, it's pretty...
If that o-ring at the base of the dip-stick tube is shot or non-existent it will leak like a sieve. Not to mention travel all over and under your motor and make a huge mess in the process.
I wouldn't swear it... but it looks like the stock connector to the oxygen sensor.
I have a wideband and the connector is different, so it's been a while since I've seen one.
I'd agree with that, but the Cometic is a pretty decent HG.
Hey Grim...How much boost were you pushing when you blew the Cometic, or was it something else that contributed to the BHG?
Given a decent tune and stock compression, how much boost do you think the cometic can handle? I've known of...
Yes, part #85190-14630...List $91.54 Sell $68.66 (as listed in EPC). They're probably more now, I think these are the old prices from 1991. A little steep for a windshield wiper arm, but they're the only game in town if you want a new one.
Here's the link...
Rings are shot, probably the bores too. Also, I think I see some traces of cylinder to cylinder leakage. #1 and #6 look awful.
That one needs a complete rebuild.
It's got a little rust but it's not that bad.
I had a car way back when I was going to school back east that you could see the road as you drove through the holes in the floor. Hell, there were places in the body so rusted I swear you could have stuck your thumb though. I one time grabbed a...
I don't know anything about fiberglass resin over cardboard (sounds so funky it might work), but I like the idea of aluminum for a couple of reasons: it's light and it won't rust. However, the point nosechunks made about the wind possibly causing it to make a ton of noise (probably similar to a...
