I have a Borla (w/ a dynomax resonator and RT cat) on my 7m. At freeway speeds, its slightly louder than stock (I was surprised how little) but is a bit louder (than stock) at WOT. I also put on on of their intercooled tips, there was a significant tonal difference between a strait cut vs borla...
check that-
After drilling out the front corner rivet, I wiped the area clean with brake cleaner and it smudged. The top layers have a hard and shiney dark grey coating that is smooth to the touch and shows finger prints. I assumed it was something inherant in the steel itself, but that corner...
wanted to add an interesting note:
I received a new custom thickness hg from Cometic and EDIT: see note is post #46.
On two freshly machined surfaces (head is mirror, block is as smooth as his CBN cutter could get it) there should be no need for additional 'sealants' on the new HG, correct?
when was the last time you bled the brakes? how old is the fluid - what type of fluid are you using? Not all dot4's are created equal in temp handling or water absorbtion.
sounds like an alignment thing (mostly) as well as a driving style. I don't run the stock alignment (one that is slightly more aggressive) and I have to drive the car a little harder to wear the tires evenly. But I usually won't align a car until the suspension is close to how I want it (change...
I've tried the 712's and thought they were a poor performance tire - I felt they were too hard (generally speaking) and downright scary if the asphalt was cold or damp. in the hard rain they were ok.
I currently have a set of hankook ventus - which is decent all around tire (wet/dry) at a good...
I know that Bilstein will valve them: http://www.bilstein.com/services.php
if you have an idea of how you wanted them changed. Most of the other builders that I have looked at are either porsche or ferrari specialist, so they are a bit pricey.
I almost bought a set of bilsteins, but bought...
I have an OFE with roughly the same HP goals. Problem is, the tranny is in the garage and the motor is on the stand, so I can't tell you how it works yet.
In talking with Andy @sbc, he reccomended the the OFE over the others based on my goals (should hold over 500ftlbs). but then again, I don't...
Yep, that would be a good idea. 7m's are sensitive to low oil - if you are burning it off (like when you get on it) then you are going to have to watch it closer.
Not to mention the other things that don't like oil - O2 sensors, cat's...
Your best be would be to take care of it sooner than later.
lex afm is ~25% larger in volume than the stock afm. 550's are ~25% larger than the stock 440's hence the reason they are a popular upgrade often done together...(see where I am going with this).
Fuel management is very important - the TCCS can only compensate so far
