Thats awesome! Happy Birthday! (or belated) Looks like an awesome gun! Ive always loved Kimber but the price kept me away from em. Hope ya enjoy it and the rest of your birthday!
Surprised im the first reply really.
Yes it'll work. Just check out this sticked thread in the 1jz/2jz section. http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?153102-Your-1JZ-GTE-And-2JZ-GTE-Swap-Guide-For-Dummies
The steps for getting the auto to work on the 2jz-GE should be the same as the GTE.
I have an AEM Dry Flow and no complaints. Paid about $60 for mine, don't think you can get an Apexi for anything close to that. Not to mention you can get the Dry Flow in any size you need/want.
I went with a Deatschwerks DW300 universal intank pump. I was originally gonna get a Denso TT Supra pump but the price and my budget at the time didn't allow for it. So far no complaints at all, i have it running on a Single turbo 1jz. Pump drops right in with minor modification to the rubber...
You dont need the plug from the mirror controller like I did to do the bypass. You could cut the wires and cross them before the plug, but the way I did it makes it so no cutting or modification to factory harness is needed. Just reference the pins/wires from the upper picture I showed.
Theres a few of us here! We just had a small meet last night at Chilis on Mason rd and I-10. Whatsup! Dont think ive ever seen ya around! You have a supra? What color? Year?
I didn't even try to have them replace it as I didn't think they would. Also I didnt really know that the ECU was bad until the engine was in the car and running; which was about a week after I got the engine.
I'll chime in here since I got my 1jz from Ebay.
I got mine from jdmenginescorp like hvyman, mine was extremely clean just like hvyman described! Heres a few pics of my 1jz as it looked when the delivery driver droppped it off and i had unwrapped it from all the plastic wrap they put around...
Well! Finally got my car running and to the point where I can drive it around. So heres what I have to say about the conversion, or atleast what all was done to mine which im sure Derek can clarify.
ITS COLD! Like it gets as cold if not colder than my moms Mazda 5! I had it set to 65 until...
I bypassed mine a while ago and documented how to do so. Heres a pic I made wayy back when i did the bypass.
When I did mine, I used a old plug from a mirror controller so it would just be unplug and put a new taillight failure sensor back in whenever i get one.
Or you can just try to find...
Use a paperclip or any piece of wire to jump em. And it basically prevents your ecu from automatically advancing or retarding the timing when you're trying to set it.
So, ive had my 1jz swap complete for the most part for a while now. But something is weird with the charging system. So now im wondering if I tackled the 3 wires coming off of the alternator plug wrong. So for clarification, I was wondering if someone could tell me exactly what to do with the...
Wow Nick.. So harsh, even harsher was your post before the edit...
And yeah, what he said. And theres not all that much room for a wastegate/screamer pipe depending on the manifold (atleast not for my 1jz drewgo manifold). I basically need an instant 90* bend right after my WG to keep it...
Yep, they're VERY similar. Found this info when I was looking for a replacement MAP sensor for my 1jz, ended up with a 2jz MAP sensor after seeing the similarity between the two...
I never liked that routing by the radio/brakebooster, sounds like a PITA to access ecu and get at the rest of the wires. Dont you need to extend the body harness plugs to run it there anyways, not to mention cutting another hole for the harness? And the zip-ties are getting changed for some more...
What its at now, it actually runs but one of the capacitors in my ECU is blown. JDMMA70's dad is looking at it and going to attempt to fix it, after that its off to the exhaust shop then itll be done! I have a video of one of the first starts, but i need to edit/clip it down. Ill update more...
