so i thought i remembered a thread discussing this topic before but i cant seem to find it. my question is, how much horsepower can the oem replacement head gasket handle. torqued down to 80ft/lbs with arps of course. if someone else knows where to find the thread with this information please...

not to hijack, but how much would sending the block, assembled, to a machine shop and having them check everything, set lash and do a valve job and stem seals? ballpark figure..
actually i kinda do sometimes lol. i only get like 21-22 city and thats if im not on it. if i reset my economy thing then take off from a light i only get 8-9 mpg :)
edit: im trying to take it easy on my motor for the most part until i can get a mhg and arps, and hoses.
yeh i have a code 52 and still get like 320 miles to the tank...maybe im just lucky(ish)..if i was real lucky i wouldnt have the code in the first place
i believe the down on power side but im not so sure about the gas mileage part...unless you guys are getting a lot higher than me. i get between 21 and 22 mpg around town and about 26-27 on the highway..is that bad? (its a major improvement over the mileage on my last vehicle) ;)

yeh it seems like maybe the same symptoms with different causes bc 87 mentioned his seems like its getting worse where as mine seems the to stay the same
the second and fourth pic looks like your vsv is gone. also, that red vac line going over your afm looks like its running to the wrong place, unless it makes a few bends and comes back to where it needs to be
yeh, im a little short on money at the moment and ive seen a few different types of boost/leak down testers, just havent made one yet. thanks though, and hopefully that helps 87..maybe he will notice one of the flaws i pointed out..
