touching light bulbs will ruin them?

I would appreciate some clarification on the idea that the glass of a light bulb should not be touched due to skin oils having an adverse affect resulting in a premature failure. It doesn't make sense to me. How would these oils have any affect on the element sealed inside the bulb? I can't...

Dumping ALOT of white smoke at idle only. HELP!!

Replace the vacuum switch with one from the local Pick n Pull, find one from an old Toyota truck they are easiest to get to, and and install on Supra. I did this on my Lexus as well and have never had any problems. Total out of pocket expense was less than $5.00

I have noticed a significant differance in acceleration from when the weather is near the 100 mark vs the cool 75 degree evenings we are now experiencing in this area. I understand all the cooler air = density = more O2 etc. my question is can I expect such a noticable difference when I...

Dumping ALOT of white smoke at idle only. HELP!!

There is a remote possibility that the vacuum valve on the PS pump has failed allowing PS fluid to be sucked into the intake. This would result in white smoke and an oil smell.

    Engine bay clean up

In my opinion cleanliness and attention to detail i.e. proper attachment points for wire harness, vac lines, fresh paint, a little polish etc. is what sets an engine bay apart from the average car. I don't think it is necessary or advisable to remove components to make an engine bay look good.

New wheel bearing - pack or no pack

The guy at the parts counter says I don't need to pack new rear wheel bearings because they have already been greased at the factory. I think (but I could be wrong) that the grease on the bearings is just for protection during shipping and that they should be packed with grease. What do you...

    Job Posting

Just a thought, with the economy the way it is I was thinking a job postings area might be helpful. This site would be a great way to network and could be an invaluable resource for members that might be down on their luck or recently layed off and are looking for a new career.

How do you fell about buying parts off Ebay for your MK3?

Like the very first post said, you get what you pay for and even that isn't always true. From past experience, I will NEVER again buy a head gasket from EBay.

    Comprehending the PPS system

Does that mean that the solenoid opens/closes in degrees or does it cycle similar to an injector? The reason I ask because the test is done at full voltage whereas the out-put voltage from the ECU is very low and varies. Am I on the right diagnostic trail for the described problem or would...
