any other broken parts in the transmission? how's the thrust washer?
have you considered cryo treating? it might help a bit.
700hp is a lot to ask of any transmission but you definitely need to figure something out that can handle it, not change your driving style or power levels. I'm all for...
don't worry, they're not too smart ;)
should be a wicked build man! never understood why more people don't use the lipp turbos, they're some of the highest quality turbos you can get. I can't wait to see the buildup and results!
holy damn!
that piece of shit is nicer than my car!!
did you guys have fun building it? it sure looks like it was! wow...so awesome what can be done on so tight a budget. tell us how the autocross went at the end of the day if you guys have internet access!
a battery has nothing to do with the running state of an engine. once started, you should be able to remove the battery terminals (although, you shouldn't) and the car will still run.
The alternator should be supplying a surpluss of power to run the vehicle's electronics, and giving the...
I wish! haha
we may be somewhere down the line because our names are the same, and it's not a very common name (there aren't very many of us). But as far as I know we aren't.
it's the powersteering pump that's pooched boys, and making my car sound like it's supercharged. It works fine and isn't leaking any fluid, but it is very loud. I will have time to go to the junkyard in two weeks, hopefully I can find a cressida or supra there so I can get a new one!
glad you...
Hey jay, I just read your whole thread! god damn! so much troubleshooting!
Now, I'll try and contribute at least something...I read that you're using pretty much all the same parts, excluding the intake manifold gasket. You've replaced many like the intercooler pipes etc. hoping that it's the...
I went autocrossing at the picton airport this weekend with some friends. I had one of the best times I've ever had in an afternoon. the car worked beautifully and I did quite well. The track was very fast and nearly everybody spun their car at least once. I finally pushed too hard and with hot...
thanks so much guys! I am indeed happy! the car is pulling very hard with these cold temperatures...such a blast to drive!
i'm quite sure that oil leak is the front main. It's not leaking enough to show up on the ground still, and the car isn't loosing any according to the dipstick. It's very...
thanks again guys.
the exhaust note didn't change much...the 7m just sounds a little more modern...just a hair smoother but the same, very similar sound the 5m has. do you have headers? they change the sound quite a bit...
if you can get a 2j cheap, go for it, starting with a better platform...
bwahahatha that's an awesome post...and a very nice compliment. thanks man.
exhaust is a doug thorley header (sold as TRD), magnaflow cat and a Brullen exhaust. It's all 2.5" mandrel bent stainless steel. The Bruellen exhaust includes a resonator within the piping. Brullen was a company based...
the engine seal kit was from an ebay gasket set (a reportedly good one mentioned on the mk2 forums). I lubricated the seal with engine oil, I drove the seal in with a large socket and everything appeared fine when installed.
cheap seal? flaw in it's manufacturing? got pinched when installed...
well, some bad news guys... I've developed an oil leak. I was checking my car routinely and noticed some oil seepage around the front of the motor, near the bottom. The timing belt is dry and it looks wet around the water pump and crank pulley. my guess is the front main seal...I wonder why it...
to put this thread to somewhat of an end (as every thread should have...), I'm bringing this thread back from the dead.
my engine is installed and running great with the head shaving and modifications as listed in this thread. with the cam timing tweaked a bit and ignition timing set...
