    Numba1Stuna's 1990 7M-GTE Complete rebuild thread

So I got another car two weeks ago... A Turbocharged Ford Probe GT. I know guys, I know. But, I got it for almost next to nothing by doing a little bartering. She couldn't get it to run and it was sitting at her work for a month. The way she described the breakdown in the middle of the road I...

Lol, I'm definitely keeping those, luckily they came with the car even. I do eventually want to change the front and back bumper. The front one was trashed when I got it and the current one was just a cheap local replacement. Sent from my G2x using Tapatalk 2

    Head Gasket Replacement!

Yeah, iirc it's the bolts you don't want to reuse because they can stretch. Sent from my G2x using Tapatalk 2

That's ok, anything with doing is worth doing right. I'm still waiting to find a digital caliper to measure for the head gasket on my Supra, then all I have to do is reassemble it ;-) Sent from my G2x using Tapatalk 2

And THAT is the ultimate feeling! Fixing something yourself or that someone else could not! I just bought a 2.2L turbo Ford Probe last week that the PO couldn't get to run for the last month. I'm going to have the same feeling soon! Sent from my G2x using Tapatalk 2

I've never used it and an not too familiar with the thicknesses/viscosity. You can use wd40 or kerosene. I used the wd40. Sent from my G2x using Tapatalk 2

Grease will hold the chips in and cause galling.

After you carefully drill the first few threads straight it will guide you. Just have a steady hand :-) Sent from my G2x using Tapatalk 2

Start slow and go even. Then on tapping go in a little bit then back off the threads and take the tap out. I personally did quarter turns, then would back up and go again, after a whole turn I then pulled out the tap and cleaned the aluminum off the tap with a wire brush and out of the hole with...

Not sure about what these guys recommend for oil, but as far as the knock is concerned, if you believe it is a knock you can isolate it by removing spark plugs one at a time while running beginning at number 1. If the sounds persists and you don't notice it go away after running through them all...

Changing my head gasket, me asking for your help while doing this

The small metal tube that slides down into the block does bend and move. In fact I removed mine from my block when rebuilding it. The bent angle holds it in, when you straighten it, it allows you to remove it. Just try adjusting the angle of how far it is bent. Hopefully that will resolve your...
