I wouldn't pay 13k for an old car no matter if it had 1000 miles on the clock. Would rather spend 5k on a good one tare it down and re build it with the 8k I had left in my pocket. With 8k doing all the work yourself you would litteraly have brand new mk3 with a few modest upgrades.
The average petrol engine is most efficent between 1800 and 2500 rpm. Try to read the road as far ahed as you can so you varie the throttle position as little as possible. On a long run crusing at 70 - 75 and driving like I discribe I can get 33 mpg (imperial gallons which is 4.5L as aposed to...
Sell the N/A add whatever you get for it to your £1000 and buy the cleanest Turbo Manual you can find. I got mine off egay 2 years ago for £890 needing some work, also look in the forsale section on www.mkiiisupra.net some real bargins to be found there.
Would draining the oil really be that effective?? Being as alot of oil is still clinging to your sump and other engine components with said metal in suspension. Wouldn't you need to flush the engine and remove the sump and clean it??
I know what it ment was just being pedantic MAP Manifold ABSOLUTE Pressure would be 30.9 if he was running 16.2 psi boost pressure.
Good solid numbers there I would be happy to
I had a Citroen XM si Turbo and changed my oil once a year which is 24000 miles car has 178000 miles on it and the engine is a s sweet as a nut. I do a minimum of 6000 miles on the oil in my sup if your anal about it change your filter every 3000 miles but leave the oil.
MAFT pro with all the bits from suprasport.com $697
550 injectors between $300 - $600 depending on quality and where you get them from.
New IC + hard pipes $1000
other odds and sods $1000
Your engine has to be in A1 condition to be shooting for these numbers.
Compression check, replace belts and fluids. Fix any problems with the car no matter how small. Check for engine codes, once you are satisfied the car is in good health then start modding.
There are two schools of thought on this subject, some say get it to full operating temp and then just step on it and drive it hard from day 1 others say go easy on it for the first 500 or so miles if your going to take the second option try to avoid extended periods of constant engine speeds...
Maybe the new cams you have been looking at are variable lift cams which have 2 different lobes which are much thinner than our cams because the tappets are in two parts for the two different lifts and are opperated by oil pressure. Hope that makes sense.
What does the pressure rise to at 3000 rpm??? I'm starting to feel better about my oil pressure now seeing all the people saying 6 - 8psi at idle is normal I was sweating because mine is between 12 - 15 at idle when fully warmed up. It also depends what oil your running if your running a very...
He's my hero if he managed to get a windscreen out of a car without cracking it. I tried a couple of years ago in a junk yard and gave up after the second one I tried started cracking.
