I know that this means that my valve stem seals might be going bad,but will it cause bad gas ,mileage too?

I know what your talking about! The TSRM give a vauge description on how to remove it,but I had no success. Probably fused on at the factory,I don't know..

if the vsv is dust,you wont get any heat at all.it controls the valve that diverts hot coolant to the heater core

Yes water pumps can fail.tell tale signs are coolant coming from the weep hole on the bottom
