my post from the other forum you posted this on... Well, if you are burning oil its probably that your piston rings are worn and the oil is getting into the cylinders on top of the pistons where the combustion takes place and gets burned off when the spark plugs ignite the air/fuel mixture.

Backfiring? It could be timing or it could be as simple as misplaced spark plug wires. Make sure they are on the correct cylinders. I'm one to check the simple things first.

I usually do 5 over on city streets and 10 over on highways. If the flow of traffic is faster, I will go faster as well.
