As some of you may know, I have a 88 Supra that's in pretty clean condition. I'm wondering though if I should sell it to buy a SC300 that I've found for $3,300. The SC300 has 200k Miles on it and I know that's high. My Supra only has about 90k Miles.
I've always wanted a SC300 but I can...
yea I did a search and managed to find a thread where a guy posted the vacuum hose diagrams. they were pretty clear so I have a good idea now of where the hoses go. :)
The vac hoses are probably all messed up and not in the right places. The guy I bought it from was a wannabe mechanic. He basically didn't know the difference between a monkey wrench and a monkey's ass. Not that I'm a mechanic, but at least when I fix things they stay fixed. He screwed up when...
The "Twin Cam 24 Valve" thing is a plate that can be unscrewed and taken off. It adds 5 hp to my car....hahahaha just kidding. The guy who owned the car before me bought a JDM engine and I've heard from other supra owners that the JDM engines came with that.
Back on topic though, I haven't...
I was cleaning out my spark plug galley a couple of days ago and noticed this:
It looks fine, but I pulled on that hose and it wasn't actually connected to anything! Does anyone know what this part is and where it connects to?
Thanks for the tip, I'd get some wal-mart lubricant but it's underwater at the moment lol (Flooded). I had metal shavings everywhere when I was grinding the valves. That lubricant should help a lot.
There's a place a few miles from my house that does powder coating, I don't know if I like the look though. Kind of a dull paint look. I'd perfer to just have it polished then I plan on getting my airbrush and touching up all the writing and stuff on the valve covers with some black and red...
Just wondering if anyone knows of any good polishing compounds for aluminum. Someone told me I could just bead blast it in the Diesel shop near my old welding class. Would that be a good idea before I polish it? I already used a little Dremel drill to get all the grime and crap off but I want a...
Thanks for the advice guys. I went out today and thought I'd try and see if the car would start up and it did. It went down the road a bit then started to die and so I gave it some gas and it kept running.
I started going down a hill though and the rpms started bouncing again and it died. I'm...
Well guys I got my valve cover seals fixed and it was all going very well. Now 1100 miles later, I've encountered another problem.
I went to work one night and when I finished my shift I went outside and tried starting my Supra but it didn't wanna start up. I took off the manifold and checked...
I'm kinda low on money right now, so as much as I love my car I'm thinking of selling it, if I were to get enough money. I just wanna know how much I should sell it for. It's a 1988 Targa Top, NA automatic. The interior is perfect. The exterior has a few dings here and there but not very many at...
haha I also timed my 0-60 It took like 9.8 seconds. I'll be looking up good mods tonight to keep in mind for the future. I don't plan on ever getting rid of my little Supra. That thing is awesome!
wow my car is a fat pig! lol plus I have my sub and amp in the back and one passenger.
My exhaust sucks too. Does anyone have any suggestions about that? I know someone mentioned a pacemaker? I'd like something that'd help it breathe much better (cos I can tell the one I have is really...
The Supra has been running for 360 miles now and it's awesome!
My roomate and I decided to take a drive up I5 today. He has a 1993 Subaru Legacy Turbo. Here's the part I don't get. He's got 163hp, my Supra has 200 right? So how come I got my ass handed to me then? He completely wasted me hands...
OK I made a big mistake. I had everything put together and it ran really bad but I thought that was because it had a little oil in the cylinders. I looked over the engine last night and realised that I had 2 spark plug wires crossed and crunched under the manifold.
I fixed it and it's running...
Okay I have a new problem. I went out there to check if my spark plugs were getting submerged in oil again like before I changed the valve cover gasket. There was no oil in there. Now there's water in there.
I was working in the rain last night so I wonder if that's what go in there. I don't...
