    venting about not getting there

Oh, I get it, but the lobes looked ok. Still smooth and not all galled up or ground down. The mech from the dealer was thinking the valves would have excessive carbon buildup not letting them seat all the way, like from burning oil. Which looks pretty much on track, valves looked like hell and...

    venting about not getting there

Yeah bras rock! Actually, I'll be pulling that off as soon as it runs and I can drive it to the car wash. Extra weight and wind drag are not my thing. As far as that cam lobe- didn't look like anything happened to it. I said 800rpm but it may have been slower, motor just stopped cold though...

    Options?

Hey rot 90na-t, where'd that pic of the individual throttle bodies come from? Your car? I didn't know if this setup was available for a 7m or where from. That'd be my goal for a na 7m, 9k rpm with individual throttle bodies!

    venting about not getting there

Ok I just gotta vent... I just put my red '86.5 back together after having the head off. I had diagnosed it's rattlin engine noise as valve clatter, so did the the guy at the Toyota dealer who was their "7m pro". Well, I jumped in and measured my clearances and turned out I needed some shims...

What to do to get more power out of our N/A's

In a recent Sport Compact Car I saw a built up Miata (fujiracing I think) running individual throttle bodies, reasoning being 1) they're light 2) can be tuned for your engines range with lenght of velocity stacks 3) sounds wicked as hell at 9000 rpm I thought about this for a 7m, of course it'd...

MA70 Supra driver vs. MA70 Supra driver

Well, yeah, some people are just dicks. I was never a Supra guy til I bought two in the past month. I admit I was/am pretty ignorant of these machines but knew what a respectable vehicle it was and sought it out. But both of the guys I bought them from knew less than I do about them. One owning...

    What's in my motor?!

Cool thanks. Why would alcohol be in with oil? I shouldn't worry about this much then?

    What's in my motor?!

Coolant and oil could make this? I bought the car for $200 cuz it had been sitting with a BHG

    Interest in N/A intake pipe?

Thanks guys, I had heard certain years of Accord intake tubes would fit but didn't know what to go after. Did either of you have to remount or adjust the postion of the AFM? How much are those big K&Ns?

    What's in my motor?!

Ok, I don't know what this stuff is. I pulled the heads off of both my Supras (ugh!) and when I pulled the head from my 87, which is the car I'm planning to keep, it's nicer, I discovered this gold paint lookin stuff coating the inside of the cam valley areas. It comes right off with a touch of...

    225-55-16 ?'s

While this is up can I change direction just a bit and ask if anyone has mounted 15" rims on a MA70? Will they clear the brakes? I only ask cuz I have an almost brand new set of 255/50ZR15 Bfg Comp T/As that have just been sittin. It may look funny but they should stick in some corners too.

    SM GT4 challenge

swaq makes me sick. It took a while to break into 49s, and I think the beer was startin to hit cuz I started to only get 52s and up. ran my 49.812 with no ASM and just a touch of TCM (ok, got the pic to prove it now)

the pump is off of the supra.

I know this sounds backwoods, but do you have an airhammer? Put a dull chisel bit in there and get right on the side of the hex and carefully try to turn it/ break it free that way. I don't know how many impossible nuts and fittings I've gotten free that way. Good chance to ruin the pass-thru...

    Need reassurance on Supras!

Thanks. That's the plan though- fix my cars properly and drive the hell out it some more! With proper and loving maintnence of course, since I plan to keep one for at least a couple more years. I just got a little frustrated for a minute looking at what was ahead of me. By comparison I also have...

    Need reassurance on Supras!

Ok, now I don't want to step on any toes, I know Supras are badass and I've been itchin for one for a while, but... Please tell me why I decided to get involved with a car that's most common problems are completely debilitating?! I'm talking about the rod knock and blown head gaskets! And...

kinda uninformed questions.... aka newb city

I feel your pain. I now own two (86.5 & 87) NA Supras that need the heads pulled, one for head gasket and one for proper valve job! At least I spent only $700 on one and $200 on the other! But now I won't be able to sell the extra homely 86.5 til I do some more serious wrenching. It sounds to me...

    Pacesetter

I was reading thru ma70.com on Bishop's(?) Supra and he thought the final part of the pacesetter header was way to small, where it goes from two into one. He cut it right at the Y and welded up 2.5" But that's about all I've heard. Always thought they were kinda lower end/ cheaper type of stuff...

    $200

Yeah, like Syris said, hold onto it for something you really need or wait and use it as a 'coupon' towards something bigger- nitrous? balloon animals?

Stolen Supra in East Bay, Cali

As far as the fuel pump cut off switch- I had an old '79 Cougar that would start without a key (I've had several ford igntions do this!) so I added an extra floor dimmer switch, not for lights but to cut off the msd ignition. I just had it mounted up a little higher than normal under the carpet...

    run a one piece driveshaft?

Thanks jdub, plenty of useful info there. I contacted a local shop and they remember doing a few a couple years ago, said it'd be around $300 for aluminum. Anyone know of aluminum half shafts? Proly out of my price range if available, but why wouldn't they be?
